Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I went to Security Officers Training Academy 5-7-09 and paid the $275.00 for my powers of arrest class for Guard card and filing fees. I was instructed that once successfully completing class my application would be filed electronically with the Dept. of Consumer Affairs Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. They instructed me that in 7-21 business days once DOJ background check was cleared my approval or denial would be posted for public viewing online and a printed copy is positive ID to begin working. I after 7 business days I checked everyday and no sign of my name so 5-28 I called up to BSIS and they told me they had record of my app or fees. I called the school only to be given excuses and the run a around by front office staff. I was disconnected and when I called back I got a message machine with Franks message on it. I left a message asking he or his office to please return my call. I waited 2 hrs and called back and I asked for the person in charge of filing my application, I was told Jan the office manager was the person I need to talk to but of course she is never available. I was instructed by Candice the receptionist that Jan was checking and I need to check back. I said when can I expect some news, she asked me to give her until Mon. so I did.

Mon. June 1 the school opened at 8 am I waited until 8 :50 and called to talk to Jan. She would not talk to me and I told Candice that I was tired of being given the run around by the staff and if I did not get the information I needed by the time we hang up I'm going down to the Colton Calif. BBB and talking to them. Well amazingly after about 10 mins Candice came back on with my information. I called BSIS and they told me there was nothing in the system and that if my app was just filed it would take a couple days to get entered into the system. Well I called another contact at a security school who has access to the state database and he verified that my application had just been submitted that morning.

I am very upset that I was lied to and taken advantage of by this school. I need work and could be working right now I have job offers. I could have afforded the fees to file a chapter 7 to save my home I just saw get auctioned publically due to no work. This school is engaging in deceptive and unfair business practices. I'm not sure how many other guards have been unjustly treated by this school but I'd bet my whole class had their money played with. When I called BSIS 6-1-09 I spoke with Dee and she informed me that it's not an uncommon practice for these school to wait until they get a large number of apps and then submit them. Not a nice way to treat your customers that are out of work in these hard times Frank and Jan!
