On December 15 my credit card was charged for $88.62 for a supposed "free trial" for the price of shipping for a 60 day supply of Acai Berry. Then again it was charged for 94.57 on December 29th, which I discovered a couple days ago, when I received a package with a second single bottle of ACAI, with an invoice for the $88.62. I was livid.

I did not order this. There had been nothing to indicate in the first FREE shipment that I would be charged or that it was an automatic order, nor any indication that I had to return the product if I didn't like it. I tried it a couple days and it upset my stomach. So, I immediately called and asked them to remove the charges and they gave me an RMA. However, after looking at other reports, I am skeptical that I will receive my refund. I have ordered other things online for shipping only and NEVER EVER had my credit card charged for something I did not specifically order. THIS is downright fraudulent, because I do not remember seeing any fine print in the form which I filled out online to get my FREE trial for cost of shipping.

I cannot afford this. What they are doing is shameful, as I found another forum where I saw numerous complaints about the same company defrauding people out of their bank accounts. I KNEW I had more money in the bank than what I had -- until I examined what they were doing. I am filing a report with my bank, with the Better Business Bureau - EVEN IF THEY REFUND MY MONEY -- THIS IS A WASTE OF MY TIME, How many others have they have ripped off? I dread to think. I know the price of one bottle of this herb is hardly $88, in fact one can get this for between $5 and $10 -- and I did not receive whatever they've charged me with for the $94.57, and if I do, they will waste more of my time, which is money. Don't order anything which says Free Trial Acai Berry!

After talking to the bank, and several rounds of emails with the company, I got a confirmation in writing that SFL Nutrition will refund my money! The bottom line here is: DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING THAT SAYS "FREE"! This cost me 4 hours, and I had to cancel my card, as a precautionary measure. I believe these companies are using deceitful methods, when instead of advertising a FREE TRIAL, they are enrolling you in a membership, which is in "terms and conditions", but not easily found. So LOOK FOR and READ the fine print! It's up to the consumer apparently to protect themselves these days!

The Original Ripoff Report Text: On December 15 my credit card was charged for $88.62 for a supposed "free trial" for the price of shipping for a 60 day supply of Acai Berry. Then again it was charged for 94.57 on December 29th, AFTER I had called to cancel with the company and gotten an RMA to return the product and get my refund. I discovered all this couple days ago, during the Christmas holidays, when I received a package with a second single bottle of ACAI, with an invoice for the $88.62. There was nothing in the packaging to indicate in the first FREE shipment that I would be charged or that it was an automatic order, nor any indication that I had to return the product if I didn't like it. While filling out the order form online, the terms and conditions were not visible on the screen. One must scroll down to check the fine print. I tried this product for only a couple days and it upset my stomach. So, I immediately called and asked them to remove the charges and they gave me an RMA#. However, now I've received an email from their customer support saying I will be charged the full amount because I did not respond within the 15 day period. Yet, they charged my account 15 days from the date that they SHIPPED the product, so I didn't even have 15 days to TRY their product. I have ordered other FREE trials, or FREE for the price of shipping deals online for shipping only and NEVER EVER had this kind of experience. THIS is dishonest. I cannot afford this. What they are doing is shameful. I found another forum where I saw numerous complaints about the same company taking money out of their bank accounts. My bank said they get a large number of complaints from this company. EVEN IF THEY REFUND MY MONEY -- THIS IS A WASTE OF MY TIME, How many others have they have ripped off? I dread to think. I know the price of one bottle of this herb is hardly $88, in fact one can get this for between $5 and $10. I did not receive whatever they've charged me with for the $94.57, and if I do, I am returning it. Before ordering anything which is FREE always check the terms and conditions. If the Terms and conditions are anywhere on the website, no matter how HIDDEN, they have you over a barrel. It's dishonest, not upfront, and there are sharks out there. Don't order anything which says Free Trial Acai Berry!

I talked with my bank and cancelled my card as my best means of protection from further charges. I was told that because they have the "terms and conditions" somewhere on their website, they are within the law. However, if I had seen a little check box that said, "I agree to the terms and conditions" I would have read that and definitely would not have placed any order with them. This is how they hook you and then they want you to go through hoops to try to cancel with them. They placed another charge on my card AFTER I had talked to them and told them I could not use this product! I am still hopeful I will get the nearly $200 refunded. If not, I will report them, and follow through with the bank. I was told that what I need is not only an RMA # but a cancellation order #, although cancellation information does not specifically appear to be on the website. Apparently, this is a company which my bank has had a lot of complaints from, but there is little one can do. It's up to us the consumer to read the fine print, or FIND the fine print. I took a couple screen shots of my ordering process and nowhere during that process was the "terms and conditions" visible. However, they do have the "terms and conditions" on their site, which I found AFTER the fact. I believe that it should be a requirement, even if most people don't read these terms, to have a check box, "I have read and agree to the terms and conditions" before allowing the process to proceed. Here they sign you up automatically without telling you specifically before or during the process of ordering a "FREE" sample or trial; this is shark-like, dishonest behavior, if not technically fraud.

I went back to the original site and found the fine print. It was BELOW my screen's view at the bottom in extra fine extra- lite print face. I could not have seen it on my monitor screen unless I +knew+ to scroll down PAST their order form. It is totally misleading. All of the credit card info etc. was visible -- the FINE PRINT was not. We'll see whether they actually refund the money, and how much -- and I will update that info here too. As mentioned, I have ordered free trial's before and NEVER had this happen!
