Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

As a small business owner, it is super difficult to make a living in general. Everything you do is your business and you put your heart and soul into whatever it is you're passionate about and hope to God that you make money along the way. The worst of the worst are other businesses that mask themselves as "helpers" and con their way into your wallet.

Shoptiques' first impression was extremely pushy, sales-y and aggressive. It immediately put me off and I was freaked out by how much the girl hounded me to consider Shoptiques. As a young boutique owner, I didnt have time to run my online shop and find unique customers so I was a little interested because they claimed to have a huge following. I initially said no just solely based on their sales technique (tacky.) but I caved in and thought "how bad could it be?"

First of all, the $1,000 entry fee is completely terrible and should have been the first key that once they got that check, my store would be tossed to the side and lost in the thousands of other boutiques that are signed on. It's completely saturated with boutiques that nothing feels special.

They have penalty fees if an item isnt shipped out within 24 hours and this can sometimes cost more than the item you're shipping so they collect and you lose out. Sometimes its impossible to get something shipped out that quick when you're wearing 100 other hats and trying to make ends meet. As long as something is shipped out within a timely manner so the customer is satisfied, that's all that should matter.

It also takes 30 days for the money to show up in your account because they give the shopper that much time to decide if they want to keep it or not. 30 days makes sense for big name retailers but for little guys like small boutiques who depend on that cashflow, it hurts. Also the customer can wear the item atleast 2 times and return it, get the money back and you miss out once again. If you sell something in your own store or through your own online store, you see the money within 2-3 business days which keeps things running.

The Shoptiques payout method is ridiculous.

The whole format of Shoptiques is really to benefit the people working there and not boutiques.

Oh and the cherry on top? A day after I told them I wasn't turning my shop back on, I got a salesy email from someone asking me if I've ever heard of Shoptiques and if I would consider having a phone conference with her so I can sign my store up.

Just don't do it.

I'm sorry to hear about your negative experience, as selling with Shoptiques was the best decision I've ever made for my business.  I had my own online store previously, but wasn't seeing hardly any traffic.  I actually reached out to Shoptiques myself to see if THEY would consider ME! My $1000 was earned back within about 2 months.  It took me a little bit of time to figure out how to add the correct photography, but it's now a breeze.  It does take extra effort on your end to make sure things are shipped out in a timely manner and your inventory if up-to-date, but what kind of business expansion doesn't?  Since I've started selling with Shoptiques, I've sold product in nearly every state in the US and have even had international orders.  It has been well worth my time and buy-in, and its unfortunate that you did not experience that.

Shoptiques and My Boutiques Success

My name is Elizabeth and I own a boutique in Littleton CO. About a year ago I signed the agreement to partner with Shoptiques to get my online store going. I did my own website previously an only had 2 online orders in 7 month period so I was unsure if this would work. Once I figured out how to post the items and photos the sales did start coming in like the Shoptiques rep said they would. On average I did about 6-8 orders a week. Sometimes a lot more. They deal with all the returns, customer issues, and shipping which takes a huge load off my plate. It took me a little time to figure out a system to make Shoptiques work for my store, but now that is in place it's been a pleasant surprise with additional on online orders. I was worried about paying the $1000 but I did make my money back quickly. I have had to pay a fee for shipping the wrong item out on accident but it only happened once and it helps me hold my team accountable and helps us really stay on top of our inventory. I was a septic but once I put in the time and actually used the tools they provided me with it started to really pay off.

I highly recommend that other stores work with Shoptiques—they've helped us set up our website, assisted with our photography, run our email marketing, and have been a true and valued partner.  They have helped increase our sales and revenue and enabled our boutique to sell to customers worldwide!  It's a minimal investment with a maximum return. We earned back the initial investment in the first month.   What else could a business ask for?  Join the Shoptique family!

As fars as being fined for not shipping out within the allowed timeframe...This is explained from the begining before you sign up.  So if you find you can fullfil the order in the alotted timframe then hire more help.  It's not hard to pack up your item and drop it off at the post office.  I have hundreds of styles listed on Shoptiques and get orders everyday all of which go out that same day or the next morning.  I personally handle every aspect of our shoptiques account and I don't have one bad thing to say about them.  In the year and 1/2 ive been working with shoptiques we have sales of over 40 times the initial investment.  We LOVE shoptiques.
