SIGNATURE TAXI DRIVER MIKE RIP-OFF ARTIST HOLIDAY Florida
HUSBAND NEEDED CAB TO CLEARWATER SINCE IT IS QUITE A DISTANCE WE CALLED DISPATCH FOR A PRICE ON THE FARE. GAVE DISPATCH DIRECT ADDRESS FROM AND TO THE LOCATION, NEEDED ROUND TRIP PRICE. DISPATCH RELAYED A FARE OF $60-$70.00 ROUND TRIP. DRIVER MIKE PICKED UP MY HUSBAND. ON RETURNING FROM CLEARWATER 'MIKE' PULLED OVER AND TOLD MY HUSBAND THE FARE WAS NOW GOING TO BE $90.00.
MY HUSBAND EXPLAINED ABOUT THE QUOTE GIVEN AND THAT WAS WHAT HE HAD ON HIM. 'MIKE' STATED IF WASN'T PAID HE WOULD CALL THE POLICE, MY HUSBAND IS DISABLED AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. THAT'S WHEN MIKE SAID HE WOULD TAKE HIS WATCH AND HOLD IT UNTIL THE FARE WAS PAID. AT THAT TIME I WAS OUT OF WORK AND WE WERE TRYING TO MAKE IT ON HIS DISABILITY CHECK AND MY UNEMPLOYMENT.
WHEN WE DID CALL THE CAB COMPANY THE OWNER ASSURED US 'MIKE' HAD THE WATCH AND WOULD RETURN IT TO US, HE WOULD HAVE HIM CALL US THAT NIGHT. NO CALL CAME, WE CALLED THE CAB COMPANY BACK, AGAIN ASSURED US ABOUT THE WATCH AND A PHONE CALL FROM 'MIKE'. AGAIN NOTHING, AFTER FOUR CALLS (CAB CO. DIDN'T HAVE A ADDRESS LISTED, WE WOULD HAVE GONE THERE) 'MIKE' CALLED FIRST HE SAID HE NEEDED THE MONEY SO HE GOT RID OF THE WATCH, ASKED HIM IF HE PAWNED IT HE SAID YES.
WHEN I ASKED HIM WHERE HIS STORY CHANGED, NOW HE SAID HE GAVE IT AWAY. SO I ASKED HIM TO PLEASE GET IT BACK IT WAS A GIFT FOR MY HUSBAND AND HAD SPECIAL MEANING BEHIND IT. HE REFUSED. HIS WHOLE STORY WAS TOTAL OF B.S. SINCE IT KEPT CHANGING. THE WATCH WAS A SEIKO AND I PAID ABOUT $90 FOR IT. HE GOT MORE THAN THE $20 MY HUSBAND OWED HIM.
I'II PUT MONEY THAT MY HUSBANDS' WATCH IS AROUND THAT FAT JERKS WRIST. WELL WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND! DON'T TRUST TAXI COMPANIES THAT DON'T USE METERS!!!! SIGNATURE TAXI KNEW ABOUT THE WHOLE INCIDENT AND FAILED TO DO ANYTHING.
PLENTY OF OTHER COMPANIES IN THE AREA USE THEM BEFORE YOU CALL SIGNATURE.

My name is Mike. I am in fact the person refered to in this complaint. First and foremost, a customer is never given a quote on an undetermined distance.The customer is told that the figure they are given is merely a rough estimate. On this trip, upon reaching our destination, the customer told me he did not have enough to pay the full fare. This put me in a tough spot. I have to turn in the company's money whether I collect it or not. Legally, I could have had the gentleman arrested. This would have cost me more time and resulted in a further loss of income. The guy also appeared to be straight up and genuinely upset about his inability to pay. He said he would pay me the next day. I have been burned repeatedly by this promise. I told him I would need some kind of collateral against his promise. All he could think of was his watch (his idea). I didn't like it. I don't know what different watches are worth. He assured me it was worth more than he owed.I agreed and told him I'd give him a few days to call me with the fare. The call never came. More than a month later A woman called the company about the watch. I got the message late and didn't call that night. Apparently she called a few more times. I returned the call and was met with a Flurry of name calling, obscenities, and accusations. I could barely get a word in. I explained that I worked for cash and that I was not a pawn shop. I also told her in a seperate statement that I no longer had the watch. She assumed that I sold it. I do not have the time to peddle used watches.I just took the loss and gave the watch away. It didn't fit my fat wrist. I never changed my story. I am known for dealing with my customers fairly and honestly. In conclusion, I would like to state for the record, The management of A Signature Transport was unaware of the deal I made with the guy. I am solely responsible. I do not appologize for my actions as I believe that I was more than fair. For this woman to attack an entire company, One with an excellent reputation, I might add, is totally irresponsible.
