Singer Lazer Vacuum ripoff, scam, dishonest practices, evasive, no follow through on promises Los Angeles California
On 6/30/05 I ordered the Singer Lazer Storm Vac package incl 2 vacs 1 steamer plus accessories for each vac (long cord,mop attachment,cleaning cloth,aromatherapy) for a total cost of $246.85 plus they added free Radio Headphone for my order.
On 7/5/05 $491.13 was extracted from my bank account, exactly twice the amount quoted to me by their rep-Kim.
On 7/21/05 spoke with Elaine at Customer care 800-711-8357 and advised her or their error. She said she would adjust back down to the original 2 vac package and refund me $246.85 back to my account in 5 to 15 days. My order would again take another 4-6 wks to process.
On 8/09/05 spoke to Veronica,she assured me my order was due to ship on 8/12/05 and money would be refunded at that time.
On 8/14/05 spoke with Zerlina who said order had still not shipped and took 5 to 15 "business days" for those transactions to be done. I asked for a supervisor because they were putting me off each time I called, they had my money in 5 days 2 of which were not "business days."
Monica the supervisor advised me she was hand writing out a refund for the full amount of $491.13 due to post back to my account on 8/23/05.
As there was no refund posted on 8/23/05 I called for Monica again. I received a recording at 800-711-8357 so I called the order line at 800-229-5588 and got another number 800-716-8667 for customer care but all reps and supervisors were busy and they'd call back. Two hours later I called again and spoke with supervisor Judy who informed my a release of funds for $231.34 would be released to my account on Thursday and gave me a refund number. I advised her the refund was supposed to be $491.13 and this amount has never been mentioned to me and what was it for, she said Monica's handwritten refund had not been entered into their database, and that she would call the warehouse to check on all this and callback within 1/2 hour. That was 6 hours ago.
I attemped to callback on both customer care lines and they both disconnected me after 1 hour on 3 separate calls using 2 different phones. In the meantime I have emailed this accounting to customer care on 2 separate occasions 8/15 & 8/23 receiving a thank you and we'll get back to you in 24 hours to which I responded that they never responded back to my first email.
What kind of scam is this? Are they living off the interest while they put me off. All this lip service has left me cold for any other Singer products. I will try the Federal Regulation E Form mentioned in your literature but these people are still selling this product on TV on Shop TV. I saw the add again from 130p to 2p. Who is regulating these people? And how do you stop it?
