SLEEPY'S false advertisement regarding warranty. mattress purchased is defective-with wire bulging from the side,refuses exchange of mattress even though the inspector can visuallly see the protrusion of the wire. Queens, New York
I purchased a mattress, box spring and headboard for $1500.00 of which sleepy's advised they would finance $1,000. I infomred the Store Manager that I had two dis-herniated disc and needed a mattress that would alleviate the strain on my back. He suggested that I purchase their TOP OF THE LINE Mattress.
Shortly after the mattress was delivered I told the sales person that I felt uncomfortable sleeping on this mattress. I felt as though I was sleeping slanted downward and had to use a pillow to prop me up. He infomred me that it would take a little while for my body to adjust to the firmness. However, the problem continued and two months after purchase I discovered there was a wire protruding from the corner.
I was informed that a thorough inspection would be se-up. But that inspection took 3 more months. I stopped paying on the balance and then was confronted with the finance company which is not SLEEPY's as they lead me to believe.
Additionally, the inspector was an outside sub-contractor of SLEEPY's who agreed that the mattress was indeed off balanced. He said that the protruding wires was nothing (nothing unless you pass by the bed and get stabbed with the wire). Four weeks after the inspection and upon my continuous inquires to the store manager Jerry LaMadrid, I was advised that the only thing they would do was change the box spring. I am left without a bed and in debt for over $1,000.

This customer certainly did not buy the top of the line model available in my show room!! Warranties are voided by rips,stains and burns. Her mattress must have had one of these problems to have had her warranty voided. As for the financing, she knew all the information, up front, as to what company would be doing her financing. Our inspection process takes about 3 weeks from start to finish. Appointments are set up with the customer within three to five days of the complaint. The inspector will go to the customers home and check everything from the frame up to the mattress and all in between, checking that there are no rips,stains or burns along the way. The inspector will take measurements and pictures as proof of all issues. Once the inspection is done the report is written and sent to the warranties department where a decsion is made wether the warranty claim is good or not. I can understand the frustration some customers have when the answer they want is not given to them, but there are guidlines which we must adhere to so that we can accomadate exchanges. I have been with sleepys for almost 4 years and have *never* not found a way to help my customers wether it's a partial credit or a huge discount (sometimes up to 70 percent).

Elizabeth..Sleepy's headquarters is in Bethpage, try contacting them. If you search some of the old complaints, there is an employee who posts her name and contact number to help with issues. I hope this helps!
