I filed a report w/ the Federal Trade Commision last night and requested that they view the 4yrs worth of victim complaints against SMC and i feel in order for this company to be fully investigated. The only way for all of us victims of this company to get any satisfaction is for numerous FTC complaints regarding the same deceptive practices of SMC and the unethical way they commit fraud and get away with stealing peoples money! I urge any persons interested to contact me through this website to further pursue a ban of protests against this company. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE its time to stand up and fight for our consumer rights and stop being taken advantage of!!!!!

I am a former member of SMC back in the late 80's and early 90's. There is alot to SMC. But I never did have any problems with them when I was doing business with them. I use to have there products at Flea Markets, and also in a lot of small stores. I had racks in about 15 stores. I was a paid up member. They let me pay $25.00 dollars per month for 12 months at the time. I did made money selling out of the catalogs and also having my own products. I have to say, the lived up to there word. But I could not compete with Wal-Mart or other stores that also carried products that looked like the same as in the catalogs. It also depends on the area you are selling. If you are near a shopping mall. Chances are there are some small outlets that sell products that look the same and with cheaper prices then you are selling for them. Remember, large stores carry alot of products. The more they buy the cheaper the price from there suppliers it will cost. I did alot of homework before I became a member. They also have other ways for you to make money. Just like tupper Ware, and Amway. They do false advertise about the guy saying he got checks for $10,000 and $100,000 dollars in his mail box. Who in there rightful mind would send that amount of money through the mail. It usually is done through pay pal or a bank transaction. That is all I have to say about this matter. If I could, I would reactivate my membership with SMC.

Has this company really gone that far downhill?

I became a member of SMC in 2005, defaulted on my initial membership due to a financial hardship. I called them in 2007 to see how I could reactivate my membership. They worked with me, even allowed me to start over where I left off at when I defaulted. All this with no penalties or problems. Today, I have my own business selling their merchandise for supplemental income. Granted, this isn't what you will find in Macy's or Tiffany's & if that's the kind of quality you expected to have, then you got into the wrong market. To answer a few questions: Yes I have a website. No I did not purchase one of theirs. I built my own- much cheaper. The listed retail price is not set in stone. Everything I sell is discounted 10-25% BELOW the MSRP listed in the catalogs & on their memebers website. I still make a profit, but then again, I have a low overhead to cover. If you do have a valid complaint or legal issue, I wish you the best of luck to get your credit records cleared, etc. Some of these complaints though are from people who expected to do very little but expected to get a lot in return or just didn't follow the TOS set by SMC.
