SMC, Specialty Merchandise Corporation ripoff nationwide
I just wanted to Thank You all for helping me in my decision to not make a terrible mistake. I recently moved to upstate NY and am currently unemployed. My husband and I purchased a new home and we have to watch our pennies with just "one" income for the time being.
I saw the "SMC Infomercial" early one morning after my husband had just left for work. With all the swap meets and craft fairs going on in my new neighborhood I thought this would be a great way for me to try something new. I've done sales, customer service and who doesn't love a bargin. So I called the "1-800" number to get my "free" information. I also had a lot of questions. I had been involved in selling programs and pyramid schemes before. and always just got out at the right time (before loosing my shirt). The operater whom I spoke with was more interested in getting my credit card information and getting me signed up right away. He seemed to be reading a script, never directly answering any of my questions and I told him probably close to seven times that my husband had the credit card on him and he was at work.
Being we just moved, our banking, and checks was not mailed to us in time for me to make this big mistake. They wanted me to invest close to $350.00 + a $39.95 monthly fee without reading any further information, viewing any of the products and answering any of my questions.
Yea, it all looked good on TV, but I needed to see more things in writing. After ten minutes of the guy asking me for my credit information over and over I asked him "What about the free information booklet?" this is the reason I called. He replied "the information you will receive is what I am explaining to you". It was too early for all this B.S. and my head just started spinning.......It's been a week and I still have not received any "free" information.
Still wondering if I passed up a descent at home business opportunity I decided to search the web. Thank you all again I am grateful I found this website. I'd rather try selling homemade cookies of the side of the road that have that headache! Many Thanks!!!
