An unwanted text message from an previously unknown source appeared on my cell phone. Text was from 877 402-3687 Solow Subscription. It said that the subscription had been renewed. Well, I'd never heard of nor previously known of Solow.com.
It did say at the bottom of the text: Reply to STOP or cancel. The logical assumption is not to reply as that usually starts a new round of "... another sucker is on the phone..." As the subscription was not actually ever started it is obviously a scam. Unfortunately the submission of the renewal by Solow has been accepted by cell phone providers. A Google search of the phone number 877 402-3687 discovers a long list of cell phone users who have been scammed and some of the providers are refusing to see it as a sacm. Fortunely my provider, AT&T Wireless, recognizes it ane reversed the charges. The contact at ATT also relayed that they are trying to stop this scam.
I believe that all customers should be assisting in stopping the rampant misuse of the technology. Unfortunately most of us do not know where to turn.
This is but a start....
