South Carolina Government extortion corruption Anderson South Carolina
This is yet another example of how state government is corrupt.
My father bought a pontoon boat from an individual about 4 yrs ago. In the state of South Carolina , you have to renew your boat registration sticker every 4 yrs.
My father's sticker was going to expire this year. So he goes to the courthouse to renew his sticker and finds out the individual that owned the boat previously did not pay his taxes on the boat. So they wont give him a renewal sticker without paying the delinquent taxes. Never mind the fact that my father didn't owe those taxes. They said," Either pay the taxes or no sticker".
After many unreturned calls to elected officals to get the matter resolved fairly , he decided to pay the taxes.
That to me is straight out "extortion". You either pay it , or your boating illegally. Of course, government gets away with it.
