I am a single mother, work full-time, and go to school full-time. In October of last year I was approached (along with my roommate) by 2 guys claiming they were earning points for a trip and were selling magazines. I agreed to order 2 b/c I wanted to help them out. They told me my check would not be cashed for 10 days. It was cashed 3 days later and I found out when I went to get gas and my bank account was wiped out. I called the number and talked to some girl who said that the owner was out but to send the receipt and she would have my refund in a few days. She also told me the salesman was reprimanded and fined $500.00. I never received any magazines OR my refunds. There was a check for $69.00 and one for $49.00. That was all the money I had b/c my job only paid for twice a month. I had no money to get to school, work, or take my daughter to daycare until I borrowed money from a friend...which I also had to pay back. I had no way to get in touch with anyone from the company b/c I was only given one receipt and I mailed that in thinking I was going to receive my money back. At this point, I would have been happy just receiving the magazines! The guys that "sold" me the magazines were illegally in my residence hall scamming helpless college students.
