We purchased our first German shepherd from Rebecca Cummings and Julie Diaz of Southern Import K9 on 9-24-13. We loved her so much, we bought a second one on 12-11-13.
On 1-8-14, our first dog(Bella) was diagnosed with Mange. Contact was immediately made with the Breeder.
On 2-8-14 our second dog(Brutus) was also diagnosed with Mange. Contact was again immediately made with the breeder, and an appointment was setup with her Vet on 2/14 to verify.
On that date, it was discussed and agreed upon that they were responsible for the vet bills, and medication associated with this disease, and payment would be made. We followed up with all the needed paperwork via email, with no response.
2 weeks later with no communication, I phoned, and contacted Julie Diaz. She informed me to wait another 2 weeks, and they would be in contact. Two weeks later, we didnt' hear anything.
To this day we haven't heard any thing back from them, and I have two sick dogs with very expensive vet bills.

I have purchased 2 German Shepherds from Southern Import K9. They are the picture of health and have had no problems with either one of them. I have a 4 year old and a 2 year old Shepherd. They have the best temperaments and are great as a family dog and a working dog. I consider this breeder to be a very conscientious breeder. They have always been very professional with every purchase I have made. I also read the complaint with the Better Business Bureau which has in it what could cause localized demodectic mange which can be caused by stress or malnutrition. It is not a genetic disease. I can say that I have had pleasant experiences purchasing pups from this breeder.

I do not usually post on these sites, however after coming across the complaint above by chance, I felt compelled to add my two cents worth.
I also have 2 German Shepherds from Southern Import K9. JEDBURGH age 7yrs and NATASHA age 3 years. They were both obtained from Rebecca at 8 weeks, are from different parents and are absolutely the best and healthiest dogs ever. I split my time between Florida and NH and wherever we go, I get compliments on how smart, fit, and well-mannered thay are.
I have not been to the new facility of Southern Import, but it appears to be a top notch kennel. They were at the previous house during my purchases. I can say that every time I have dealt with Rebecca, she has been pleasant, helpful, and a total professional. I cannot believe that the original complaintant has had a bad experience of the magnitude that he claims. If I had anything less than 100% confidence in Southern Import K9, I would not take the time to write this. When the time comes for another dog, there is no other breeder that I would go to (and I am in New Hampshire about 1500 miles away).
According to the terms of this site, I am not allowed to offer up personal information, however I will contact Rebecca and make my contact info available, I am on facebook and have many pictures of both dogs posted. I would be more than happy to show anyone the dogs so you can judge for yourself the quality of the dogs.
My background info ...... male, age 53, Retired military, Live in New Hampshire (part time in Tampa FL) I have owned Rottweilers, Labs, and several GSDs.
Bottom Line......... Rebecca and Southern Import K9 are the best!!!
