When I was first enrolled into Southern New Hampshire University I was placed with a counselor Danielle Guenther to supposedly mentor me and help me be successful in my attempts to better educate myself online. I was enrolled into the course via her having placed me within my first writing course and then was told within the first week that I could drop the course. I had notified her that I was requesting the paperwork to drop the course and that I had wanted the course dropped. She was completely unwilling to work with me and had told me that I should work out my difficulties with the course with the instructor. After battling with her for the forms I had requested the course be dropped. I was told that it probably wouldn't be unless I had a medical ailment or impairment. Then after the course drop deadlines the financial aid office and Credit and Collections and Student Financials Office had contacted me about a supposed 2, 100 that I had owed that would continue to accumulate interest. This is when I had told Melinda Palisi Parker that I was not going to let them off this easy as the course should've been dropped and was referred to Nancy Bean Foster who is known as an "dispute resolution specialist". This woman had seemed more interested in fighting with me over the phone and making threats that all calls with university personel are recorded and that I would not get out of paying what was "owed" on my student account. I told her that this would actually be beneficial in my case. She was more interested in making threats and trying to bully me into paying for the course that should have been dropped. I had told her that I would continue to dispute the charges with the college and with any debt collector they try to contact into pursuing me as well as with the credit bureaus. She then sent me an email a few days later in all capital letters letting me know that she was unwilling to allow me to dispute the charges and that I would still need to pay for the course. Of course I ignored these empty threats and sought out legal advice as well as let the media and Attorney Office General in New Hampshire as well as filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau that even stated this college is not BBC certified. On the BBB site there were numerous complaints much like mine that had been filed and reported for the same type of scamming used upon other students and apparently has had a reputation for being an unreputable and dishonest college.

All Colleges are the Same

#2Consumer Suggestion

Colleges want to keep you as a student, no matter what. They never refund money, unless it is an overpayment, and even then, they are slow to do it.

This is not a scam, all colleges are exactly the same.

I am sorry this happened to you. In the future, think very hard before committing to returning to school. It is a big commitment, and you cannot just swtich or quit and then expect a refund.
