I have been with this company for a year and a half and have watched it go down hill. It started earlier this year when they took over several hundred trucks from Covenant Transport. Regardless of what anyone says, Covenant Owns Southern Refrigerated. One only needs to check the financial statements that Covenant files every quarter to verify ownership. This in and of itself explains a lot of the problems going on at SRT lately. If you have any doubts check this site for Covenant Transport and you will see a long list of complaints (most of them true I'm sure).

Some of the big things I have Noticed change over the last year: Reduced pay scales .04, Home time is optional, getting reimbursed for road expenses is somewhat difficult, their hiring standards have gone way down, Lots of accidents due to poor hiring decisions, night shift and weekend duty schedulers are absolutely useless (take care of issues Friday or wait till Monday), Pay is sometimes a week late, they eliminated security in the day time because they could not afford it anymore, the truck wash has been broke for many months and they refuse to fix it, they fired the guy who used to run the truck wash cause they could no longer afford it (which means you get a pressure washer and a scrub brush to wash their truck), Constant qualcomm messages about using mirrors to change lanes and to not get into accidents (this really needs to be said???), Most long term drivers quit earlier this year (new guys are cheaper) when they took on the new trucks, reduction in miles, extremely poor planning or preplanned loads, no trucks for new hires because the shop is backed up, and so on.

I can only say that I came to SRT from Covenant and am sad to say that I watched SRT become Covenant. It is little more than a revolving door (bring em in and push em out). I don't quite understand the mentality but then again, it's not my company If you look at how many millions Covenant has lost over the past few years you gotta wonder how they keep afloat. Perhaps they are squeezing returns from SRT and Star transport to hel cover their losses at the parent company...who knows. These next few weeks will definitely be my last. As soon as I line up something else I am gone as I have a good record and intend on keeping it that way. I wish you all well and would not recommend this company to someone looking for stable, reliable income and a good work environment.

i use to work for srt.an i can say with out a doubt, they are the worst co. ive ever been with.i have high standards too;an this co. never met them.Putting your information into the pad an then pushing a button, the truckwash never worked for me,an several other people as well,so i payed to have my trk washed.an when i was at home, i washed it.along with doing minor matenance. An as for the shop; sitting in the yrd for up to 3 to 5 days waiting to get in,totaly rediculous,The shop never fixed all that was written up,an when there was something serious(like the engine using 2 to3 gal of coolant a week)the shop couldnt find anything wrong.an forget about trying to talk to anyone within the company about a problem,"from Darla"were not having this conversation".That super B needs to be fired. No walkin policy here.I guess thats why this company had large orientations every week.i dont want to be treated or cheated,i ask for fair treatement an being charged 3cents for every mile(for a per diem)big rip off. This is the first co. in my 23years of driving that charged a driver for a per diem,an having it was mandatory.A friend of mine was put on medical leave he had health problems, was told that he would still have his job after 30days.They fired him after 2wks.this guy lost weight 40lbs now his suger is good, colesteral is down, blood pressure under control.this co refuses to pay any medical expenses(even though he had insurance w/ the co.)An they wont hire him back. Why,because this co. doesnt give a darn about people.oh an after giving a proper 2wks notice, they demanded that i clean out the truck while i was in the yrd, fine. This co. has so many abandond trucks that they were afraid that i would abandon it too.An for my record;i've never abandon a truck.Like i said this co. has no regard for its employees.SRT chould stand for Slave Requirement Trucking. They will treat u like crap you eather take it or leave it,i left it.

Hopefully you are one one the 'cry baby' drivers we no longer have. I have been with this company for several years now and feel it is one on the better places to work. Oh, sure, you are probably a driver who thinks the whole company revolves around you and you are the only one who deserves any attention. I have never had a problem with getting any pay or reimbursements, probably because I have submitted them in the proper way. Also when the pay scale was lowered, I remained at the same (top) pay and we had drivers coming to the company that were satisfied with the new pay. When I am out on the road, I give the company, job and my truck my full attention. I have high standards for myself and get the same in return from my fleet managers. The wash bay was broken because there were drivers who didn't care about taking care of the use of the equipment and therefore the bay got tore up. Guess what, it's fixed now! I'm glad you no longer work for SRT because I get very tired of listening to all the whining thats done by disgruntled drivers. I have only one last thing to say to any driver that isn't happy here. LEAVE!
