My wife had her car serviced at Speedee Oil Change. Brakes needed to be checked and an oil change. She dropped the car off and went to the mall. The tech, Phil, called to inform her that the transmission fluid and coolant were low. She said OK and went to get her car.

When she got there the tech explained what he did, she didnt understand and told him that, so she went to get the invoice - $535.93. He changed the power steering fluid, transmission fluid, coolant, air conditioning, fuel system flush and filter and the brakes. He had to do the oil change when she got there because he didnt do that for some reason. No discussion of price, work that needed to be done, etc. before she got back to Speedee to authorize the work.

Im certain that had he started to explain all this on the phone, and the costs associated with all this work, she would have called me to talk to him or at least asked if all this was needed. The car is a 2004 Subaru with 37,000 miles. I dont refute the entire service order as I can at least understand the brakes and oil change. The Owner / Manager stood by his tech. Oddly, he wouldnt talk to me in the office. I had to go outside to the workshop to discuss this with him. He tells me that he services 50 cars a day and never had a complaint.

The owner offered no restitution of any kind. Not even an apology. The website states only needed work will be done, full discussion of costs and need before the work is done and is per the manufacturers recommendation. The owner used severe use as a reason but never asked what conditions the car was driven in. My wife doesnt work and does little to no city driving. Another interesting tidbit, I said the word hell and they both asked me not to curse in an attempt to deflect the real problem.

He tells me that he services 50 cars a day and never had a complaint. I dont dispute that some of the work was needed, just not all of it. The owner offered no restitutution of any kind. Not even an apology. I also used the word hell to which the tech requested I not curse. An attempt at a distraction from the real problem of him not doing his job correctly.
