In my opinion SpeedyBuys.com has very questionable business practices. Like many others, I signed onto the site to use a coupon for free bids. I ended up paying $149.00 for a package of 300 bids that I really did not want. When I looked closely at the site after the fact, I did notice a small obscure statement that there was a charge but the phrasing and text size made it deceiving.
Unlike many others, I actually won something, a Compaq Laptop with 15.6 screen. They placed the value at $699.00. Other than the initial $149.00, I paid another $142.00 for the won item. There was an additional charge of 19.99 for shipping/postage. The win was more than a month ago. The Q&A on the web site states that items won should be received in one to two weeks. I have sent multiple e-mail in an effort to obtain any shipping information. They did respond to one stating that they would provide an answer the next day but that never happened. What is the point of winning if you never receive the merchandise.
At this point I am still waiting to see what happens and where I should take my complaint if I do not receive the laptop. I am contemplating contacting the Consumer Fraud division of the California Attorney General's Office. I may also file a claim in Small Claims Court. If 50 or 100 individuals filed in Small Claims, it may get their attention
