Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I am a jewelry designer who had some business in Detroit. I booked a round trip coach ticket on Spirit airlines, but upgraded to Business on the way back. The last time I travelled on Spirit, they required I check all my jeweler's tools and anything that looked suspect. Because I didn't have time to do so, they tossed a bunch of my pliers, scissors, etc.

this time I checked anything suspect, and guess what? they lost my bag!!! with close to $6,000 worth of tools, leather bags, etc. in it! Every day that this bag is lost, I lose money...My credit card machine was also in that bag! spirit Airline is now trying to offer me a round trip coach ticket to anywhere to make up for my lost bag. they rail off a long list of items they won't reimburse, making it virtually impossible to recover any item they lose. I asked them to check out any security cameras and see if anyone took my bag, and they won't even listen to me.

In a letter they wrote to me, they tried to placate me and stated that "they valued my business" but essentially, the ticket was all they were offering me. Where is the justice? If they require us to check dangerous items, they should also make sure that they make sure that all bags are handled properly, and that they get all items to the passengers promptly. I have a small business, and as of right now, I am COMPLETELY strapped, trying to replace beads, tools, equipment and other items that it took me years to accumilate. Does anyone know of any recourse I can take?

I also had an issue with this airline recently!!! Horrible customer service!!! I was hung up on repeatedly, my husband called and got in to a heated argument over the phone, and we even threaten to sue. They lost my bag as well, I traveled from Tampa to Ft.Lauderdale, Ft. Lauderdale to Atlanta. My bag was missing for 2 days. They lied and said there was no way of tracking my bag, but when a manager finally got tired of me calling (every hour) she informed me that the last time it was scanned, it was in Ft. Lauderdale. When I finally got my bag 2 days later, it was in Puerto Rico. I even called there "Corporate Office" which never answered the phone or had a busy tone. I have yet to hear back from them after i left a message. I filled a complaint with the BBB in Florida and with the Federal Trade Commissions online. Now I'm seeking a refund for having to pay to check my bag in, which ended up getting lost anyway, and a reimbursement for the items I had to replace while my bag was missing. I HATE this company and this was my 1st time riding this airline!!!

I advise you to file a report with the Better Business Bureau. Go to BBB.org. Then send Spirit Air a written certified letter stating everything you have been through. Tell them in writing that a free ticket is not acceptable considering the amount of your loss. Also let them know that you will not hestitate to contact your lawyer and are ready to file a suit against them for not attempting to re-imburse you for your loss. If all else fails, you should contact the Attorney General or local Senators office as they will be able to give you further info. and help. Good Luck! You said your CC machine was also in the bag, contact the company to see if they can help you.
