Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

On May 9th we entered into a moving contract with Presidential Van Lines, The quote was a binding agreement not to exceed the quoted price of $1938. Our scheduled pick up days were between June 14th and June 15th. The exact time frame was not given to us until June 13th and then the time frame was switched again the following day. The movers showed up late on the 15th. My father in law was waiting at our storage unit because we were already in route to Florida. When the movers arrived, they refused to take our kitchen table and told us they were going to add bulk charges to all of our items. We were quoted 1-7 business days at this time.

We paid the full quote price in cash at pickup, even though only half was required. This is also the first we heard that Presidential Van Lines subcontracted our order to Spirit Van Lines.

I contacted Presidential Van Lines on Monday the 18th of June to see if we could have an ETA on our items or a location. They assured me they have no idea when we could expect our items or where they are and insisted we contact Spirit Van Lines. We called Spirit Van Lines almost daily from that point on. Their customer service were not helpful at all and had no idea where our stuff was for two weeks. They were rude and unprofessional. Finally on the 28th they said our stuff was sitting in Chicago in a warehouse. They would not elaborate on this at all or provide a date which our stuff arrived. Again they could not tell us when our stuff would reach us. We asked to speak with a supervisor and were told they weren’t available during that week.

We called on July 5th and were told our stuff shipped out on the 3rd, nobody contacted us to let us know. We then tried to contact the driver on Thursday and Friday to find out when he would arrive. He did not return calls or messages and customer services assured us it could take 4 business days. Finally on Monday the 9th we received a call at 7:13 PM. The driver (Vlad) said he would be here following morning at 8 and told us we now owe an additional $2093! This is the first we have heard of the additional amount.

Tuesday morning the driver refused our payment by check or credit card and insisted only cash. We were upset but did not cause issue and drove to the bank once it opened. The nightmare began when they opened the truck door. All our bins were spilled all over and stuff was broken. (see pictures) We were clearly upset about this and once they were done unloading we quickly realized we were missing a lot of stuff. Huge items like a trampoline, bowflex adjustable weights, weight bench, golf clubs, softball equipment, kids ride on toys, furniture among other items. We called both Spirit and Presidential and neither would take our calls or help out in any way other than saying we can file a police report if we would like. We filed a report with Polk County Police.

After going through more tubs we found that someone dug through our tubs and took a laptop and the cords and many many items. Including photo albums, baby pictures, toys, stuffed animals, shelves, christmas decor.

We have been in contact with News departments in Florida and Michigan as well as trying to get in touch with an attorney.  Our goal is to expose these companies for the lack of professionalism and dishonesty that they provide. We want to make sure nobody entrusts their moves with them again.
