After receiving a $1200- tax refund earlier this week, I was ready to drop a chunk of change on a decent hands-free headset for my Sprint PCS phone. Having been a Sprint customer for over two years, and being pleased with the cellular service I had received, I headed for the Sprint store nearest me, in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, expecting the same high level of service. Boy, was I in for a shock.

My boyfriend and I walked in and stood at the counter and waited for someone to acknowledge and/or help us. One of the employees, a man named "Zimbalist" was on the phone, but did not acknowledge us or make eye contact. Another employee, later identified as Alex, the store manager, had his back to us and did not turn around.

A couple with their child came in and were immediately helped by Alex since they clearly wanted to set up service.

We walked around and looked at the different attachments, but I had questions. We waited at the counter and again, no one acknowledged or helped us.

Alex then managed to separate them from his lucrative cell contract customers and ask if I had a question. I had several, but after he answered the first one, he walked back over to his more 'important' contract customers.

I then picked up what I thought was a decent headset and walked over to a differernt counter where a woman was sitting behind the counter. I asked her if it would be all right if I opened the package and tried it to make sure that it was of a sound quality that I approved of. She responded that none of the packages were allowed to be opened; store policy. I asked if they had one I could try--no, they did not. I then replied, "I'm not comfortable buying electronic accessories that I can't try first. How do I know if this is something that will work for me?" She again stated the store policy. I told her I wouldn't be buying anything that day, then, although frankly, if she had been a little more polite, I might have bought it, opened it and tried it right there to see if it were okay, but since she and the other employees had such a bad attitude, I decided against it.

My boyfriend and I left the store, but feeling very misaligned and maltreated, we went back in to speak to the manager. We waited, and waited, and waited....20 minutes passed, and no one acknowledged we were even in the store. I watched as "Zimbalist" helped other customers and Alex continued with his signing up of the cellular contract customers who had come in AFTER we did about 45 minutes earlier.

I finally got tired of waiting, went up to Alex, handed him the equipment I was going to buy and said that as a long-time Sprint customer I was less than happy with the poor assistance I had received in his store. I would not be buying anything that day or every again." He just looked at me like the RCA dog (huh?) as we walked out.

I will never return to that Sprint store. Unfortunately, one can only buy accessories for a Sprint phone at a Sprint store so I'm stuck if I still want to buy a headset. When my contract runs out next year on my cell phone, I'll be re-thinking that, also.
