In August 2002 I purchased a living room set from Levitz Furniture along with a seven-year warranty from Stainsafe. In Februray 2004 I submitted a claim via email because the seams on my sofa were tearing and my coffee table was scratched.

I received a reply email stating that a service technician would contact me in 5-7 days to make an appointment. After 2 weeks I still hadn't received a call. I sent an email explaining that I had yet to receive a call. A reply email told me that it was going to be taken care of and that I would receive a call shortly.

After another week, I still hadn't gotten a call. I called the customer service department and was told by the customer service rep that a letter had been sent to me, but he was unknowledgable about what the letter contained. He stated I would receive the letter in a few days.

A week went by and I had not received a letter. I called again and was told that my claim was denied because the damage was not reported in the amount of time necessary.

According to the warranty I had 5 days to report the damage. I reported it before the 5 days were up. According to Stainsafe it was not reported in time because more than one area was damaged and the damage could not have happened all at once.

The damage did happen all at once and I don't understand how they can make the assumption that it didn't. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told that that division was unsupervised. I was then told that I could write a letter to the headquarters and see if they could help me.

I feel that I've been given the runaround. I don't feel that I should have had to continually email and call this company to get some kind of answer. I also feel that they are being fraudulant by not honoring my claim.

I will send a letter and see if I get results.
