I found out about Stanford Who's Who through the social networking site LinkedIn. They were being advertised on the site. I signed up to be considered for acceptance into the Who's Who thinking it was a legitimate business (as it was being advertised on a well known professional site, LinkedIn). I was contacted 2 weeks later by a sales rep from Stanford Who's Who. Her name is Sara Singerman [877.6502150 x2233]. After about 20 minutes of talking with her she told me I was accepted. She told me there was a gold and platinum package. The gold package consisted of all the perks and bonuses and certificates and would $589 with a $199 fee and a reoccurring $9.95 monthly fee.Thinking I was dealing with a legitimate company (because I had been directed to them by a company I trust) I went a head and told her I would do the gold package. I never received a receipt or proof of payments, she never once told me about any terms of service or cancellation policies. I called back an hour after the transaction had taken place. I was transferred to Calra Gwatney [877.6502150 x2008]. I explained to her I didn't want to continue the membership and I would like to cancel. I was told they didn't have a cancel policy and all memberships were final and was unable to give me a refund. I mentioned to here that the total price (with shipping and the set up fee) was over $500 and by law I would be required to fax in a signature to legalize the funds being transferred. She then proceeded to tell me that here is what we can do. We can refund you $200 and the waive the $199 and the monthly fees and still let me keep my 5 year membership. I was like, but I still haven't given permission for the transaction. She then verbally told me on the phone, that is why we are crediting you $200 back - so your total price would be under $500 and we are not required to have a signature then. For this to take place all I would need to is to fax back an agreement form with my signature so that they could process the $200 refund.

Just an FYI, Stanford Who's Who sends me snail mail all the time asking for money to be listed.

I am suppose to pay to have my application reviewed? LOL I graduated high school the top of my class, was the valedictorian, but that was 35 years ago.  Since then I have been a housewife and now Grandma.

It is a scam.
