When buying coffee and danich at the LaGuardia airport Starbucks on Jan 26 2003 I wa charged for 2 bannana muffins for $4.98 and 2 tall coffees $3.40, tax at $0.69 for a total of $9.07

What I really bought was 2 small coffees, one cookie and one danish both marked at $1.95 each.

On being challenged about the prices, the attendant, indicated as "joaquine" on the receipt, stated that the individual prices shown on the receipt included local taxes, despite the line item noted above for $0.69.

So, if you're buying stuff from Starbucks, Take care to check the prices and the receipt.

Starbucks does not offer a SMALL coffee -- they offer a TALL coffee. You got exactly what you requesteed and paid for and were not overcharged. Breakfast for two for only $9.07 in New York City is virtually unheard of, especially in the airport nonetheless. It sounds like you got a wonderful deal. Why are you complaining??!!

I am a manager at a corporate owned Starbucks and am surprised to see any complaints about Starbucks on this website. However, in our defense, I will say that there are many stores that merely use our name and product and are not directly connected to the Starbucks Company itself. Those Starbucks that you see in airports, grocery stores, malls, or casinos are called "concept" stores or "business alliances". They do not reflect the way all Starbucks do business.

It does the employee no good

I have worked for Starbucks for over a year now, and I can tell you that the person behind the register benefits in no way by overcharging anybody. Any extra money would only go to the Corporate folks. And you can bet that finding a barista THAT dedicated to the company is about as easy as finding a needle in a haystack. As far as the loopy explanation... maybe that person just had no clue what they were talking about, maybe they had a crappy day and were very frazzled, maybe they were high. Who knows? But at that level of affiliation to the company they certainly didn't expect to get anything out of it. You're right, best thing is to always double check your receipt. Like they say, to err is sonething human....admitting it, well that's another story.

Do you think it's quite possible for the individual who was working to be new or new to the register she was working? Would you agree that she was in humnan form, hence she might be capable of making mistake. What gain personally would she make by INTENTIONALLY overcharging you?

airport vendors often rip you off

Airport stores and vendors often rip off customers, usually with their exhorbinant mark-ups. They have a temporary captive audience, often people who will never frequent the establishment again, so why not rip them off?
