State Of Michigan Drivers Responsibilty fee scam Lansing Michigan
The In 2003 the State of Michigan incorporated an Drivers Responsibility fee. Which has turned into a blatant scam. What it is there are certian driving violations/offenses that you are assesed these fee's. with two catagories
Catagory I which normally is $100.00 one time fine.
Catagory II which can range from 150.00-$1000.00 assesed for two years.
If you don't pay the fee within a certian amount of time your divers license will be suspended.
Here is the scam,
There are many people such as myself, who paid the drivers responsiblilty fee, but for some reason it was recorded as being paid late. with no notice your drivers license are suspended, and DMV never let's you know. Many citizens in michigan are finding themselves in this situation. So on top of the original fine/ticket you have to pay. then you have to pay Drivers responsibility fee, and the reinstatment fee. And when this is challenged in the court system. They say that as long as the DMV has in their system that they mailed it they are not responsible for you recieving. You have people who has paid the Drivers Responsibility fee on or before the dead line, having their license suspended without their knowldge, and then they get pulled over or maybe go through an inforcement zone only to find out that the are driving on suspended opp's. And the cycle start all over... this time you have to bail yourself out of jail, pay the driving on suspended opps ticket, and then the drivers responsibility fee.

The driver responsiblity fee is simple conspiricy against the citizens of michigan all michigan wants to do is profiteer off the people for the politicians pockets

My response to these fee's is that there is already a point system in place to determine if you should lose your driving privilages or not. Furthermore there were already fines imposed for each ticket you have received this is charging someone twice for the same crime and then again a third time if catagoryII and this my freinds is war on the poor the rich do not care about 1000.00 but in this economy for the lower middle class this is a months pay and even two months pay if catagory II over two years. For what ? How is this not only opposed and stricken right out, but how is this legal. I make 175.00 to 275.00 a wk at Applebee's and pay over 500.00 a mo in child support. I can't afford this . I got an impaired driving ticket and will have to pay 500.oo this year plus 500.00 next year plus 125.00 reinstate fee plus another 125.00 if a payment some miraculously is late. Also have been informed they will even tap your bank account or even someone elses if your name is anywhere on the account at will if your late. Heard this right from the horses mouth. I will do anything to bring this unfair hand up the skirt the other in the purse law to dissalution.
