Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
All these companies seem to operated by the same gypsies...possible formerly of Ocean State Paving based in the Rhode Island area, and questionably of Oregon ties, where they hide when in trouble... One of the family members was just in the news for extorting money from a little old lady, Grand larceny I believe is the charge. Tried to con her for around $7,000, job was supposed to be around $2,500.

i had my driveway paved by state paving over 4 years ago. the driveway was orginal paved by his father over 15 years ago. the work has held up to this day, only reason the driveway was repaved was do to the fact i added more driveway and wanted everything to match.   the only problem i have had with the driveway where 3 cracks.  but i was also told these cracks will appear over time, do to a tree that is right next to the driveway. it was explained to me why these cracks would appear.(the roots get bigger)  and the only way that can grantee the job is if i take the tree down.  there as been 5 or 6 other driveways done in my area, jobs gotten from my driveway. all over 5 years old and all in just as good shape as the day the went down.  minus the rich dark color. but the streets do the same

Apologies to innocent parties are in order, but it is really hard to sort through all of the information at times. Overwhelming negative data online re: Stanley family transient paving companies, frequent business name changes, and multiple identities abused only compound the problem. Protect your business and yourselves.

Hello. I am the owner of Maine Wide Paving. It has been brought to my attention by a concerned resident that my business was wrongfully being associated with the address 4 Meak Road Kingston, NH which "Sandra from Salem" has made her own corrections to this address. However both Merchants Circle and the women reporting on this website has reported the address incorrectly and I wanted to clear up these confusions. We are located in Barrington, NH and have never been associated with anyone in Kingston, NH. Sandra if you have any other concerns please contact Maine Wide Paving directly instead of reporting incorrect information. Please check back on Merchants Circle for this address to be corrected. Thank you.

I had hired State Paving to pave my driveway. About 4 years ago. What I know about the company is that it is a family business. He had came out to give myself and my wife an quote. He told us how he was going to pave it step by step. The man was very polite. He sold him self like a good business man. We had hired him to pave are driveway. It had came out good. We have no complains about State Paving. And are friend hired The company as well ! So as a person to read all the complaints I'm worried. Because I was going to hire them to seal coat it.  I had no problems with them. So Sandra what is your revenge with State Paving.

I am in Northern California, Red Bluff to be exact and some of the Stanley's seem to make their way here every summer. Many complaints and here is a published report on a George Stanley from CT:SACRAMENTO Contractors State License Board (CSLB) investigators caught up with one of the more notorious unlicensed transient paving contractors shortly after he started working again in California. George Stanley, 29, of Moosup, Connecticut, who already has felony cases pending in Tulare and Yuba Counties from 2008, was arrested today in Chico for resuming his paving scam, this year in different northern California counties. This morning, investigators with CSLBs State Investigative Fraud Team (SWIFT), along with officers from the California Highway Patrol, Butte County District Attorneys Office and Chico Police Department, arrested Stanley and two of his cousins, Kevin Snow, 21, and George Snow, 19, both of Salisbury, Massachusetts. The three are expected to face a series of charges including elder abuse, conspiracy to commit a felony, theft by use of false pretense, felony use of a contractors license, contracting without a license, and illegal advertising. The Snows are being held on $15,000 bail each. Stanley is being held on $40,000 bail, with the additional amount because a felony is alleged while he was free on bail from a previous Tulare County felony case. CSLB investigators began tracking Stanley this week after receiving tips that he was at work in Butte and Glenn Counties. This morning the trio was arrested without incident outside the Chico motel where they were staying. It is believed that the group has been working in the Chico, Paradise, and Orland areas for at least the past six weeks under the company name Porrero McLaughlin. A number of possible victims have already been identified, but CSLB investigators believe there are more. These consumers are encouraged to contact CSLB at (916) 255-2924. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8uBoKa01vk&feature=player_embedded Here is the youtube of the same guy in Idaho. Happy viewing.

Selectmen OK reprieve for State Paving By Barbara Polletta [email protected] Seacoastonline.com Classified Market Place www.seacoastclassifiedads.com KINGSTON - Selectmen agreed to hold off on a cease-and-desist order this week after the owners of a paving company assured the board that they have a plan to address state and local zoning violations. Joshua Stanley, 39, owner of State Paving Co. and Commercial Industrial Paving, of 3 Old Coach Road, appeared before selectmen Monday night with his son, Thomas, 22, to argue that town officials should not shut down their family business because of zoning violations. Joshua said he has just completed a plan that addresses the regulations in question. Joshua told selectmen that plans have been designed that will remedy the two major issues: a site plan review before the Planning Board for operating a business in a residential zone and addressing an unapproved driveway onto Route 125. Selectmen decided to hold off on a cease-and-desist order until the father-son paving team has a chance to present its newly designed plans to the Planning Board. "We just got the plans in-hand today, and we will be calling the Planning Board to get on their agenda for a review," the elder Stanley told selectmen. Selectmen agreed that if the Stanleys proceed with steps to appear before the Planning Board, the cease-and-desist order should not be issued. Selectmen Mark Heitz warned the men that they will not be put on this weeks Planning Board schedule given such short notice, but he wants to see their name on an upcoming meeting agenda. The father-son paving team has been operating the business out of its residence at 3 Old Coach Road. Planning Board members requested selectmen assistance with a cease-and-desist order because they say the elder Stanley ignored a written warning about a required site plan approval for the business. Also at issue is a second driveway from the property onto Route 125. According to documents from the state Department of Transportation (DOT), in July 2002, the department ruled that the Coach Road property was refused driveway access to Route 125 because of a local access-management plan that limits the number of driveways allowed on the highway. Town officials say Stanley has ignored the letter from the DOT and has been using a dirt driveway he created onto Route 125. Joshua told selectmen that he was not ignoring the requests, but that it took time to get plans drawn up to address the issues. He said the driveway access was necessary for his trucks to exit his business. Selectmen warned that they will be monitoring if the elder Stanley follows through with scheduling an appearance before the Planning Board. "We always want to hear what people have to say before we issue a cease-and-desist order," Heitz told the Stanleys. "However, I am the selectmens representative to the Planning Board, and I will be checking with them this week to make sure you place that call and are on their upcoming agenda for site plan review. This is something that must be followed through." The Stanleys did not keep a scheduled meeting to discuss the site-plan violations with town officials earlier this month. They contend it was because they discussed their plans with Glenn Greenwood, a regional advisor from the Rockingham Planning Commission, and thought that selectmen knew of the steps they were taking to address the issues. Arrested In an unrelated case, Joshua and Thomas Stanley were arrested by state police on charges of running a paving scam in two northern communities. State police say the Stanleys have been charged with theft in connection to an alleged scam on homeowners in Milan and Berlin, N.H. Police allege the two men completed their job, but paved much larger areas than agreed upon by the homeowners and then presented much larger bills than quoted for the work.

#14REBUTTAL Owner of company

Wed, July 01, 2009

I, the owner and operator of State Paving, have repeatedly asked for proof of any kind that I or my company have done any of the specified work performed for you Sandra. You have repeatedly ingnored the question at hand, and you've repeatedly added other people into this discussion by saying or trying to affiliate me with others. Fact of the matter being Sandra, you are hiding behind this website like a coward and a sneak, knowing and willingly being deceptive towards me. As a result of these actions, I have personally retained an attorney to investigate and take legal actions against this site. In the process of sueing this site your identity can and will be subpoenaed and your identity will be revieled. Furthermore when I recieve these results, I will do whatever it takes to sue you for defamation of character and loss of wages. This is an outright lie and not even close to being a credible complaint. You cant even name the company you have dealt with or prove that you have dealt with any one company, you name several companys instead. You haven't proved in any way, shape or form that I have done YOUR job. Prove to me that I've done your job or I will be forced to pursue every avenue I can to bring this hoax to an end. I would like for you to end this on your own and stop interfering with my business. If you cannot give this proof then you are not willing to cooperate with these terms by posting a rebuttal to these false accusations towards my company. If you cannot meet these terms, then I and others on this site will know that you're a liar and a sneak. Prove to me when or where or how I have taken advantage of or ripped you off in any way. Why is it that you feel you need to say these things about me and my company? They are incorrect and misleading. I would also like to remind you and anyone else reading these posts, by your not replying with a rebuttal containing the proof that should go along with these FALSE accusations only proves that this is all just an act of jealousy and not you are not a credible person.

CSLB Press Release - 08/17/2007Northern California Unlicensed Contractor Alert Unlicensed Paving Scammers Caught in Reno, Headed to California SACRAMENTO The California Contractors State License Board (CSLB), working with Nevada State Contractors Board (NSCB) investigators and law enforcement, is warning California residents about an unlicensed paving company, using the name "State Paving". According to NSCB investigators, a group of nearly a dozen men have been operating for about a month in the west Reno area and have scammed dozens of residents and businesses. State Paving is not licensed to perform paving work in Nevada or California. Joshua J. Stanley Three of the men were detained last night and cited by the NSCB; the others scattered when law enforcement arrived. Joshua J. Stanley, 44, believed to be from Pennsylvania, is said to be the ring leader. Investigators believe the group may now attempt to bilk unsuspecting residents and businesses in California because of reports that the company has been purchasing up to four dump-truck loads of asphalt per day. These traveling scam artists drive new vehicles, some towing pavers and rollers that are a bright orange color, and have six (6) new orange dump trucks. All vehicles have either Michigan or New Hampshire license plates. One of the operators who was cited last night for contracting without a license, Joshua J. Stanley II, 21, is possibly from Kingston, New Hampshire. The other two are identified as Michael Natola, 49, of Lynn, Massachusetts, and Hugo Rafael Baroa-Lopez, 31, of Salem, Massachusetts. Traveling construction scammers are often members of extended families that move from town to town, usually targeting the elderly or recent immigrants who are likely to have financial resources or cash on site, and who may not understand what is being sold. They will knock on a homeowner's door or enter a business and offer to perform work with material they claim is left over from another job. After making a deal, the scam artist performs substandard, useless, or even destructive work. They quickly move on, often before the victims know they've been defrauded. Not every door-to-door solicitor or family-owned business operates this way; however, the CSLB urges consumers to be suspicious of these red flags: Unsolicited offers to do painting, roofing or paving work Claims of left-over materials High-pressure or scare tactics Reluctance to sign a written contract Demand for payment in cash Brand new vehicles and out-of-state license plates Toll-free telephone contact numbers instead of a local number Consumers who believe they have information matching these individuals or who have come into contact with them can download a complaint form from the CSLB Website www.cslb.ca.gov. Before returning it, write in big letters "PAVING SCAM" at the top. If you see someone you believe may be one of these transient contractors, download a "Hot Lead Referral" form from the Website and fax it to CSLB immediately. More consumer information is available from the CSLB at www.cslb.ca.gov or by calling (800) 321-CSLB (2752). The Contractors State License Board operates under the umbrella of the California Department of Consumer Affairs. The CSLB licenses and regulates California's 312,000 contractors, and investigates more than 20,000 complaints against contractors, annually. In fiscal year 2006-2007, the CSLB helped consumers regain nearly $45 million in restitution.

#19Author of original report

Wed, May 20, 2009

I extensively researched after my experience (my bad, should have researched before allowing any "work" to be performed) with the above named companies and this is the "proof" I gathered of State Paving's perhaps unfortunate family ties to crooks and criminals. Owners of these companies appear to all possess strikingly similar "jockey" themed lawn ornaments from the same locale, in Derry. So, all in all we have both learned from this haven't we? Consumers are not stupid, some of us have just trusted the wrong people (and we can't help who are relatives are either). Local newspapers and city records have tons of useful information.

#20REBUTTAL Owner of company

Wed, May 06, 2009

My name is Joshua Stanley, and I am the owner of State Paving located in Kingston, NH. I would like to take this oppurtunity to address this complaint and clear any doubts/allegations made towards State Paving. State Paving is a reliable company with customer satisfaction in mind. All of our paving work is fully guaranteed for one year from the time of service. We have an outstanding business rating with the Better Business Bureau and we also have referances available on request and take pride in our company and workmanship. We can be contacted at [email protected] and also by phone at 603-642-3397. We strongly urge anyone doubting our authenticity to contact us or the Better Business Bureau. **We do not understand why we have never been contacted by 'Sandra'. If we infact did provide 'Sandra' with services why has she never come forward? Also I would like 'Sandra' to come forward with any documentation that she has that links State Paving and ONLY State Paving to her, such as receipts, a contract, checks, etc. Unless 'Sandra' can provide these documents, I see no reason for this accusation against State Paving to be considered legitimate. Also I urge this alleged customer to come forward with her real name if she is using an alias, as we have no recollection or records of dealing with a Sandra from Salem, NH. This leads all at State Paving to believe that these statements set forth against the company (State Paving) to be false truths. I also strongly feel that if this person cannot come forward and provide any kind of proof, this blog/post should be removed from this site. I find it mind blowing that people can just post something on a website and show no proof that anything they are stating is true.** State Paving is located at 3 Old Coach Road in Kingston, NH and is the only paving company located at this address. *We are not, nor have we ever been affiliated with the above named paving contrators, Pro Paving, Ace Paving, Massive Paving, etc. Therefore the said companys are not operated by the same people/family as the complaint (made by Sandra of Salem NH) states.* Furthermore IF State Paving provided services to this alleged customer/stated complainer, I am reaching out now to resolve any issues this alleged customer has with State Paving. As I have stated above we are not affiliated with any of the named paving companys and cannot act nor speak for them. State Paving has no knowledge of any grand larceny case and have not been included in any such case. If this grand larceny case took place, it is public knowledge and anyone can look into it. Sandra is very vague as to where the supposed job took place not even stating the town. I am also curious to know that info as well, if she has it at all. If this larceny case is real, State Paving once again, was not affiliated with any contractors that were involved with the 'little old lady scam' as she states. I hope that anyone reading this report will find THIS post helpful in any decision making. We would hate to lose business based on heresay or someone who was treated badly by another company. I urge Sandra or whomever posted this complaint to please come forward and also for the Corporate Advocates to please take my rebuttal into consideration and help me take the necessary steps to restore my good business name. Thank you, Joshua J. Stanley
