Baldo is a former Chev Dealer and has a repair service and used car sales. Repairs go through the service manager.

I had a fan break and damage the Radiator, hoses, clutch fan. The service manager was going to charge $465 for the clutch fan which was on national backorder so I purchased it via internet and had it shipped  directly to Baldo.

I also purchased the fan blade and a upper radiator hose. When I called about the bill after the repair it was over $2,000 and I knew this was way to much and told them so. Next day the bill had been corrected and the amount was $1,860.

I asked the service mgr to show me all the parts that they had installed. Looking at the car he claimed they replaced two connectors. each over $100 the man lied to me thinking that I was unaware the one connector came with the clutch fan that I had already paid for.

The mechanic was PO'ed when questioned and admitted the connector had not been purchased and replaced by Baldo. One of the hoses was also charged on the bill and I had supplied it.

After the bill was corrected it was over $400.00 less than the attempted rip off.

They knew the connector was bunk since, if they ordered the part in the first place, they would have had an extra one to send back.

They also told me the relays for the fan had stuck open and that caused the fan to break which is pure BS the plastic fan simply failed. They wanted to replace the fuse block at a cost of $323 plus two hours labor.

I purchased the block at a salvager for less than half and after watching the salvage man take the part off in less than ten minutes I realized any half butted mecchaanic could do this job in less than an hour.

I determined to do it myself and after getting the car home realized the relays were burned but the block was functioning fine. I know the relays did not cause the failure and have my suspicions as to what made them burn out. In any case I saved another $500 by simply replacing the relays.

I believe this is the SOP at Baldo and they overcharge, charge for parts not installed and may even cause damage to pump up the bill.
