Strayer  University is completely a rip-off. When you are first enrolling everybody is extremely nice and helpful, but after they get the initial funds and you as a student its back to rudeness, never able to answer their telephones, always unprofessional. My first semester was very smooth, however now this college is a complete nightmare. No one has extra money to throw down the drain, and this college is after just that.

I became ill  and called the school to ask questions before I withdrew and spoke with two people a young man named J (this is not the full name) and SG (not full name) I was informed everything would be good for enrollment next semester. On the day I went to enroll I was informed I was on SAP suspension, which means I was not elgible for student loans because I withdrew from that class I asked about.

If I had known before withdrawl I would have stayed and made the best of it. I never received a phone call and I still have not understood why give me false information. I filed for a SAP appeal and the first response was I did not put winter 2012 semester on the letter, however it did have fall semester and besides this was the only appeal I filed, so it was really common sense.

Next, I put winter 2012 on the letter and explained I was hospitalized with false brain tumors, which cause severe headaches and very blurred vision. I had discharged papers attached and was still denied. I was sent an e-mail saying I was denied, and again no telephone call or letter with the name of the individual who made the decision. I did respond with the question who do I need to speak to about this decision. I received a e-mail telling me the person name and that SG has already contacted this person for me and he was in and out of the office and would return my call if I leave a number on his voice mail.

Why did SG  just provide me with professional document or let me contact person first??? This school needs a complete new staff and maybe closure voluntary instead of involuntary because I have heard tuns of stories like mines from my friends and strangers. I have had to call corporate before because my loan money was being held and is was shorter than suppose to. What is next?? I am still unable to hear someone's voice to discuss this issue.

Appeal Process

The appeal process is very slow and inadequate. There is only one person that specifically reviews them, although at times additional staff. Is added. The additional staff follow a Playbook and basically don't look.beyond the noses on their faces. Again, this may be only an additional couple of people. If you are denied, your campus Rep may receive an email, but you may just end up on a spreadsheet. They can rarely intervene on your behalf. The denial is a corporate function, the staff can even call them. This university is very top heavy and corporate friendly, get a lawyer. I say this because before they talk to you,if they ever do, they'll have painted you as a monster already and have no interest in refunding any money to you. If they get one cent they consider it a victory.
