I was just surfing the internet, looking for rip-offs and scams, and came across several others who have been scammed by Dean Lattimer.
I suffered Lattimer's fraudulent schemes almost twenty years ago. I was out of work and running out of unemployment, so I got a magazine that had a lot of "Work at Home" classifieds in them. One which sounded interesting was a kit to make your own "String Art" at home, to resell.
So I ordered a "kit" from Lattimer String Art in Bellefontaine, Ohio, for something like 19.95. A few weeks later, I got the "kit" - one piece of badly-xeroxed paper with a barely-decipherable diagram and instructions on how to make a piece of string art to resell back to the company for profit.
So, the scam wasn't the ordering of the "kit," which I did get. The scam is the project itself. According the the convoluted instructions, the project had to be made on a certain type of wood, with hundreds of certain types of pins hammered into the wood, and the string art made by wrapping a particular type of craft thread around the design - SIX TIMES!
At this point in the reading of the instructions, I laughed, and realized I had been scammed. Obviously NOBODY could make these complicated and ridiculous little craft projects, and the amount of supplies and time needed to make one would completely negate the few dollars that Lattimer was supposedly offering to buy them from me.
I returned the "kit" for a refund, but I never really expected to get my money back - and I never did.
I can guarantee you that Lattimer never bought back ONE of these String Art pieces from anyone - even if somebody actually went ahead and made some, and sent them in, I am sure Dean just tossed them in the trash and laughed his head off. Hey Lattimer, if you are reading this, respond with a list of folks you actually bought String Art from! We are waiting...
So the real scam here isn't non-delivery of an advertised item. The scam is giving out false hope to someone out of work. To me, that is worse that tacky - that is evil.

Please find my response to this ridiculous false information place by Elliot Forbes.
1. Did Elliot Forbes at time when program was available sign a contract? Yes.
2. Did Elliot Forbes agree to contract? Yes.
3. Did Elliot Forbes have a phone to call us directly with any questions before sending the $19.95 for kit? Yes.
4. If any company listed in any publication receive's a compliant just like any industry, there first goal is to resolve the complaint. I never heard or have ever know who this Elliot Forbes is until today.
5. If he has looked "and came across several others who have been scammed by Dean Lattimer" at and seen several complaints filed by customers to Rip Off report. I have seen a total of 5 persons. 5 persons in a approximately 19 years of company in business span is not a lot of complaints and shows, all persons who did purchase the kit knew and agreed to the contract. I can guarantee many more industry's have much higher rate. This is why I have always tried to resolve and problems. The first to avoid these problems is to give all information to prospects.
6. Look at this for $19.95 is what Elliot Forbes paid for the kit and agreed to the contract, and now has choosen to take this route of lies instead of contacting me directly. It shows Elliot Forbes true intentions are nothing but to spread false lies. If he truly wanted to resolve and Not bear false witness, then Elliot Forbes would have contract us directly from the site Elliot Forbes himself has given www.bestworkforyou.com which My company is in business and I could have been contacted directly from this site. If he signed and agreed to a contract all words do apply and he must live up fully to contract. Otherwise don't spend your $19.95 with us. Go somewhere else and do your dirty work Elliot Forbes.
7. He falsely again states "and the string art made by wrapping a particular type of craft thread around the design - SIX TIMES!" which is a lie, your wrap the String around 180 degrees if going north, south, east, west. A TOTAL OF THREE LAYERS, Not SIX LAYERS as you Elliot Forbes has falsely stated.
8. Elliot Forbes again makes another false statement: "Obviously NOBODY could make these complicated and ridiculous little
craft projects, and the amount of supplies and time needed to make one
would completely negate the few dollars that Lattimer was supposedly
offering to buy them from me."
Someone at some time did complete the String Art project, otherwise Elliot Forbes, did you Not get offered to purchase a sample String Art? Yes, you did and I did not make the String Art, someone else did.
9. Elliot Forbes again makes another false statement. "So the real scam here isn't non-delivery of an advertised item. The scam is giving out false hope to someone out of work." I or the company never has or did offer you or any person "work". If we had "work" we would have given you a 1099 at the end of year and provided 1099 information in contract which we did Not. With a 1099 we would have provided you work. We have only provided you with opportunities as we do today at www.bestworkforyou.com bottom left side of web-page.
For someone getting revenge on a company from way back 10 plus years ago, it shows you really hold a grudge against companies who did you No wrong but you think that. I know its $19.95. But some people who invest in opportunities it cost them $500.00-$1,000.00-$5,000.00-$10,000.00-$50,000.00-$100,000.00 and still LOSE THEIR money. Your total loss is $19.95 chosen by you to Not complete the project. I would suggest seeing someone who care truly speak to you with all the anger Elliot Forbes holds inside your soul.
