I don't see how SunTrust is at fault here... If you didn't supply the correct account number, they cannot apply the payment. It would be different if it was their mistake- then they should credit any late fees. By your own admission, this was your mistake, so where is the Rip-Off? I've had 3 accounts with SunTrust for 7 years, and I have received excellent customer service from them at every point of contact.

you would have continued to make the same mistake over and over. Now that you are aware, you can correct your error. How is Suntrust to know which account to credit if the acount number is wrong. If an account does not exist due to an incorrect number then of course I would expect it to be returned. Of course they could have made a guess and applied the payment to someone's account that was similar except for the missing digit.
