Ken-I much appreciate that clarification. I kind of expect to have a pattern of overdrafts as my wife can't be bothered with updating me to update the checkbook all the time. My main problems in the past was being unable to get an accurate explanation of how their rules do things. I finally got an explanation of their rules and posted it in the initial report. Dee-The first half of your post is correct. My wife didn't notify me of 2 charges which would cause 3 NSF fees. The issue lies in the fact they either made an error of when the debits went through or purposefully manipulated the dates to force NSF fees. No charges went through on the 12th. I called in to verify once, and checked a few times the evening of the 12th online to make sure they hadn't gone through yet. I'm not sure how you think the bank doesn't have rules. They quite clearly spell out how their transaction rules work to me (and I copied the message from them to me below which states the have a rules pamphlet for transactions). I like how she messages me that the account balance beginning that day was -170.02. First my balance after they applied the debits at 9am on the 13th was -137 and my ending balance was -97 after they applied the deposit I put to cover the expected shortfall. If a bank has no control over when debits are put in then why is there a time limit to when transactions are applied to an account? Never had a problem with debits being applied correctly with Wachovia or Vystar. Appreciate the help both of you gave. Your explanations were very helpful. Our records show that on 05/12/09, you had a beginning day balance of -$170.02. Items were then presented to your account as follows: - Clay County UTIL (NSF-Paid) (balance: -$37.74) - Gate 1215: $20.00 (NSF-Paid) (balance: -$93.74) - Captain DS: $7.35 (NSF-Paid) (balance: -$137.09) Because funds were not available to pay the full amount of the presented items, more than one NSF (Non-Sufficient Funds) fees for $36.00 each were applied to your account. Each charge that is presented to a Non-Sufficient, Unavailable, or Uncollected balance receives a fee of $36.00. This fee is applied to the account whether the items are paid or returned. This information can be found in the fee schedule that you received when this account was opened. When your purchases are presented for payment, they will be paid in order from largest to smallest in accordance with your rules and regulations pamphlet. In the event that your balance does not cover all presented items, your account will be assessed fees accordingly. If you have any additional questions or comments, please feel free to contact us via email or by telephone

You spent money BEFORE it was in the account therefore, you owe the fees. Oh and your comment saying "according to their RULES"... there are no rules that say your debits should not have posted before they did. The bank has NO control over when debits come in and are posted to your account.

You account isn't blocked unless they refuse to allow you to write a check, or make a withdrawal at a teller window. What they did do is restrict your use of the debit card, and sight unbseen, I can assure you it is covered in the electronic services agreement you signed when you opened the account. Maybe the reason they wanted you to come to the branch was to see if they could help you get out of the pattern of overdrafts that you seem to be in. Could be they were trying to do the right thing.
