I purchased a 99 4runner from this dealer, i was told a mechanic inspected the vehicle and found no problems. so i decided to purchase this vehicle. on my way driving it home the check engine light came on. I quickly took it to my mechanic since the dealer offers no warranty, he found it had a faulty mass air flow sensor. so i went ahead and had him replace it for around $130 and the check engine light went away. A day later i took it to have the emmisions tested and it failed because the rear brakes would not stop the rollers, to me the brakes felt fine but thats because the front brakes do most of the braking. I call up the dealer and tell him the vehicle will not pass emissions because the rear brakes don't work, he tells me to take it to his mechanic and gives me the adress. so i do and drop it off, i pick it up 2 days later and ask him if he has any paperwork, he says no. i also ask him if the rear axle seals are leaking because i found out that its a common problem on this vehicle. he gets really defensive and says no. so i take it to have the emissions test again and it passes this time, but i smell a burning oil smell coming from the rear brakes so i take it to my mechanic and he can tell right away the rear axle seals are leaking. he pulls the rear brake drums off and finds the brake shoes covered in gear oil causing the rear brakes to not work, the only thing the dealer did to solve this problem was over adjust the brake shoes so the rear brakes were stopping the wheels all the time. i feel like my life was put in danger because without rear brakes working properly the vehicle can loose control under emergency braking but feel fine under normal braking. now i cant drive the vehicle until the rear axle seals and brakes are fixed which will cost around $500 to fix it right. please do not buy a vehicle from this dealer unless you want to put you or your families lives at risk. if you do decide to buy a vehicle from this dealer make sure a real mechanic does a good inspection on it first. do not trust his mechanic.
