Toward the end of September 2013, my husband brought his PPK 380 to Superior Gunsmithing & Custom Shop, LLC, and asked Mr. Hoffa, the owner & gunsmith, if he could repair the handgun because the magazine would drop out of the gun after the 1st round was fired.  He was assured that Mr. Hoffa could correct this problem very simply.  He was told to leave the gun and it would be repaired in a couple of weeks.  He checked back on 2 separate occasions over the past 3 months and was told by Mr. Hoffa that he didn't get to it yet but it should be done in about 2 weeks.  Today (12/28/13) my husband went to the shop and was informed by Mr. Hoffa that he still didn't have the time to work on my husband's gun.  Superior had my husband's gun approximately 3 months and it had still not been repaired yet, according to Mr. Hoffa, it was a simple repair.  My husband requested his gun back and was presented with a bill for $43.50.  When my husband questioned the bill, stating no repairs whatsoever had been made, he was advised that Mr. Hoffa had taken it to the range and just didn't have the time to repair it.  Mr. Hoffa further advised him that he could leave the gun and he might get to it in about 2 weeks.  My husband declined his offer and paid the bill.  He had no choice, he wanted his gun back!  Needless to say, my husband will never go back to Superior and will also let his friends know not to consider using Superior for anything!

Instead of taking responsibility for what transpired, they keep laying blame on the customer!  Good for them; now they posted signs all over their shop and have customers sign same.  Once again, NO notices were posted when my husband went to this shop.   And for them to keep insisting that there were signs posted is dishonest and disrespectful.  Beware!

Forgive me for the erroneous date.  I apologize.  My husband came to the gunshop 10/09/13.  That is ALL I will apologize for.  Superior Gunsmithing is NOT being truthful.  My husband was NOT informed of a 10 week backlog and, at the time, there were NO signs posted about any backlog.  There were absolutely NO signs about a minimum gunsmithing charge of $32.50 nor were there any signs regarding a $15. charge for testing firearms.  When my husband dropped his gun off, he was advised it would take a couple of weeks.  A "couple" is defined as two (2), NOT a "couple" of months!  My husband stopped by and asked the status of his repair and was told NOTHING had been done yet.  Not until my husband requested his gun back due to the delay, was he made aware of the gunsmithing charge and the firearm test charge.  My husband was also charged more than the $15. ammo fee, contrary to what is stated in Superior's response.  They are NOT truthful and NOT to be trusted.

Customer came in on Oct.9th 2013 NOT the stated sometime in September. Oct. 9th date is in our official ATF log book. The customer himself filled out the claim check/repair tag with his name address. The customer was informed of our 10 week backlog, which we have more than one sign posted directly in plain view. The customer returned appoximately two weeks later to see if the gun was finished. He was then informed again it would be a couple of weeks and to wait for a phone call. NOTE. the signs are still up. The signs read....

Gunsmithing Backlog is currently 10 weeks

*Estimated completion dates are base upon repair volume and the type of firearm. Completion dates may vary and are subject to change.

*All gunsmithing has a minimum charge of $32.50

*A $15 charge will be applied to all test fired forearms, unless ammo is provided.

*All repairs must be picked up within 30 days of completion. A 10% surcharge will be applied for every additional 30 days.

The firearm was test fired, diagnosed and in the process of being repaired. The custmer was informed that when the repair was finished he would recieve a phone call.  The customer did not wait for the phone call and came in unanounced and demanded the firearm back.  We charged the customer the $15 ammo fee for no supplied ammo, and we never even charged the full minimum charge since we only made the diagnoses not the actual repair.
