On August 26, 2011 I was driving home from work and stopped at a red light at the intersection of Locust and Third in Columbia. A vehicle owned by Kelly Claar and insured by Susquehanna Tree RX hit the back of my car going between 40 to 50 mph. There was no attempt by this driver to use "his or her" brakes and the accident scene proved this.  When I was coherent enough to realize what happened, I watch this truck be driven away. The driver did not even stop to see if he had killed anyone which could have been possible.

Mr. Claar insists that he has insurance on his vehicle but he was not the one driving the vehicle.  This is debatable as he neither called the police to report his car stolen, nor did he contact them to tell them someone else was driving the vehicle and committed a hit and run. Mr. Claar did spend a few thousand for an attorney who told the police he would not be making any statements to the police. Mr. Claar did have insurance through Progressive under the company name until the beginning of August.

In the meantime, my car has been totaled, I have severe pain from injuries received in this accident, my job is in jeopardy because my job description states I must own a vehicle. If all of this wasn't bad enough, I am no longer able to provide transportation for my special needs child who has multiple appointments monthly.

I have independently contacted numerous insurance companies to find current coverage to no avail. Mr. Claar to date has refused to provide any insurance information. If he does not have insurance, even if I sue, I suspect I will never see one penny from this sorry excuse for a man.

I would not trust him to do any work near or at my home as if something is damaged or injured, you will be left holding the bag as they will never work to make it right.

Per the OP and another comment, it seems the police know which truck was involved in this accident. During their investigation they would have determined if the truck had insurance at the time of the accident. If not they would have ticketed the driver for no insurance.

In addition, your insurance company can easily find out if the truck was insured. If it wasn't, hopefully you have uninsured/underinsured coverage on your policy.

Since the question of the truck's insurance is quite easily determined and yet the OP says no one is releasing that information, it brings the veracity of the entire report into question.

A "consumer comment" from Tracy Claar, the owner who company? What, did you forget to log in as Ken?

I actually bothered to communicate with the person in question, so I do know about the details missing that cause you and "Ken" to consider this fishy. Seems you also know, too.

The road that the accident was on is in good condition and does not have a light at every intersection. You can see as much on google maps. If you had actually spoken with people around town, you'd know that multiple cars were sideswiped by the same vehicle on the same road, who then tried to speed away and caused the accident in question.

The original poster of this report does not have quote whiplash unquote. She was severely injured. If you don't believe this, you can easily find the proof by having your brother speak with his insurance company.

That same vehicle was later discovered, and we both know you are fully aware of exactly how much damage it had. You know your brother is in the wrong and if you had a shred of decency, you would have turned him in when he failed to take accountability for his own actions. Your business would have never come into if either one of you was any kind of decent human being.

There could have children involved. People could have died. He didn't care. He drove away and then abandoned his truck. That you keep attacking the victim speaks volumes about you, as the owner of the company, and I think anyone considering hiring you should give that due consideration.

I live in Columbia and heard about the accident, but would like to know how the 'truck' got up to that speed when every block has a traffic light and the roads are narrow and full of holes and dips. If I went 50 mph my truck  would get airborn hitting bumps.  Talk around town is the person 'hit' is suing for whiplash, having problems finding the insurance company to file it against?

"...my car has been totaled.."
How did you get seriously injured, your car totalled due to the truck hitting you at 40-50mph and the truck was able to be driven away?  Doesn't sound at ALL feasible.
Was this seriously damaged, but driveable vehicle ever found?
Something is wrong and/or missing from this Ripoff Report.

It is a business matter

If the person who has filed this report is stating fact and the vehicle was insured by your business, then it absolutely is a business manner. If the vehicle was insured by your business, it would most likely be used by your business. A tool then belonging to your business seriously injured at least one person before the tool's operator took off with no regard for human life. No one has extended any sort of help to the person injured by your business's tool. Instead, you spend your time posting rebuttals that confuse slander for libel. Shame on you.

I want to make very clear since the author of the report did not take the time or consideration to do so, Susquehanna Tree has nothing to do with this accident. Shame on this venue for allowing an anonymous person to slander a good company without doing any research. If I wanted to take the time and money - I would file a lawsuit myself. It is unfortunate this person was involved in an accident - but to link it to this company is wrong. We have always based our business on 'word of mouth' because we take pride and care of our customers. And our base has always grown because people have been happy with our service and pass that word onto their neighbors. Have we had some complaints over 25 years, yes, but they were due to issues with trees and landscape or service thereof...not someone that wants to file a lawsuit in anonymity. I was not going to respond to this because I do believe our customers have the ability to separate our business from something privately that occured, but sir - the next company you slander may not be as forgiving.
