SVT, Inc. Misrepresentation of Contacts Columbia Missouri
I was contacted by a woman named Shawn Stone and she had told me that our CFO had told her to contact me regarding some great prices on office supplies. This did not seem too suspicious as he does this from time to time. She quoted me some prices on various supplies and told me she would send me a free mini digital camera as part of my order.
After I got off the phone with Shawn, I decided to check some of the prices against those of the large office suppliers (we have a contract with Office Max). I discovered that the prices quoted were actually higher than the Office Max prices. This raised my suspicions.
I spoke with my wife, who works in the office supply business, about the quantities I was quoted for. She told me that the quantities were quite large. Sure enough, when I received four large boxes of office supplies, I knew something was not right.
I did a quick search of this company and discovered that there were many complaints against this company just like mine. I feel angry and a bit embarrassed that I allowed this company to scam me. I have not even received the invoice yet, but I already have sent the supplies back via Fedex and will send a note instead of a check when I receive the invoice with the tracking numbers of the packages and not to expect any payment.
In the future, I will definitely verify with the person they are referencing before I place any orders.
