I'll start with the last incident with this company, because it's a perfect example of how you will be treated by them. They will use deception to make you believe you have a great position with them, and then the problems start. They are not looking for drivers so much as they are looking for pets. Don't dare speak your mind even if you are correct, almost in a cult kind of fashion.

Here is an example of what you can expect. I was hired as an over the road driver, that means long distance. If you disagree with anything they ask they will punish you like your a child. I was given a series of very short trips and I complained because you wind up working a 14 hour day waiting at shippers, and your mileage pay adds up to 20 or 30 dollars.

Here is the deception part. They said just do another short run for us and we will give you something worth it to follow. I agreed and the moment i completed the short run they took the better trip away. In fact they had another truck waiting at the gate of the shipper to take my load!

A few hours later still without an assignment I decided to move on. When I asked to return their equipment as stated in their own company manual, they informed me that they would charge me $1. per mile to do so. After I threatened them with legal action they finally agreed to let me return the truck without mileage pay. I'm still waiting to see my pay check. This was Thanksgiving day, without holiday pay, i'm thankfull I've seperated myself from them.

You May Have Won That Battle On Thanksgiving Day...But...

...the retaliation will be forthcoming. Swift is well known for launching torpedo's when drivers quit, and they hit their mark on the driver's DAC report. You need to give them a few weeks and then pull a copy of your report to see what little surprises they have put on it. I'm betting that you will be charged by them with having quit while under dispatch, and with some form of abandonment of the truck and/or trailer. The charge will either be that you returned the truck out of route, or to an unauthorized location. You will also likely have to fight tooth and nail to get any or all three charges removed from your record, if they lodge them on your record. And last, your final check will likely have deductions taken from it, in spite of any verbal agreement that was made otherwise. It's what they do to those who are not pleased with their miserable jobs. Swift is a bad place to work, a worse place to terminate your employment, and I hope that you will take the time to return and offer an update to exactly what happens to you when you attempt to find another driving job, and just how horribly that Swift attempts to darken your record. As I live and breathe, I know that some or all of the above will come to pass, but I will pray for you that it doesn't.
