Well Dave, I can't say I'm not surprised by your response to me. I was trying to help you sound a bit better. Just go into a Safety Department and tell them about your "CDL's" and guess what? The average safety guy is going to paint you as........ But go on...keep refering to your one license as plural. It will sure make you sound professional!

The Third party tester in this case, was none other than Swift Transportation. There were no DMV personnel on site during the years in question, which is why Swift was targeted. At the time, they were an approved third party testing facility. The facts are rather simple. There was evidence that drivers were not given thorough driving tests, and many aspects of the skills test were skipped. Some were issued licenses with absolutely no driving test performed at all. In addition to this, there was more than enough evidence that CDL's were issued to thousands of people who did not physically live in the state of Tennessee, which is patently illegal under the Federal regulations that all 50 states adopted in the 90's. That is what triggered the investigation. It appeared on the DMV rolls that Millington had grown by thousands of people, all living at the same address. The testing facilities were/are also located on Swift's property. Dave Barry as much as admitted to a reporter with OOIDA that they "might" be responsible just last week when they were contacted for comments. He stated (paraphrase) that if they were at fault in this, they would offer assistance to anyone who requests it. It will not be done. Those no longer with Swift are not going to be assisted in any manner. It was offered to get OOIDA off the phone with them. If you will recall, the FBI and the TBI raided Swift's CDL testing facility located on Veteran's Parkway in Millington. They did not raid a DMV office. Dave Berry claimed all over the place last February, that Swift was not the target of the investigation, but the fact is that Swift was absolutely the target of the investigation BECAUSE the CDL testing facility was absolutely on Swift's property, and at the time was a listed as a third party testing facility for the state of Tennessee. And for the record, Swift is no longer a third party tester. Drivers that go through the Millington, Tennessee Academy must now take their skills test at the Tennessee DMV office, located on Shelby Drive in Memphis.

TO ALL: "Floyd" from Lafayette: Your post is filled with misinformation. YES, there WAS a Tennessee Department of Safety (TDoS) office located INSIDE the Swift Memphis terminal! (Among other inaccuracies in your post!) FOR THE TRUTH, may I link to the LandLine magazine article from January 21, 2009 entitled "License testing shutdown leaves thousands of drivers in limbo" by Charlie Morasch, LandLine magazine staff editor: http://www.landlinemag.com/todays_news/Daily/2009/Jan09/011909/012109-04.htm AND ALSO: I started a thread on the forum "The Trucker's Report" detailing the Swift Millington Academy problem. It's the only definitive source of info on the web that I can find! I can't hope to list all the info contained in it, but in three weeks we've accumulated over 100 postings: http://www.thetruckersreport.com/truckingindustryforum/swift/65412-swift-academy-licenses-suspended.html OR you can do a Google search for "Swift Academy licenses suspended", and my Forum thread will appear at the top of the search results. (Must be Google, as Yahoo! doesn't list my thread at the top.) Finally, "Floyd": don't post inaccurate info. Unless you know what you're talking about, leave the posts to those who are informed of the situation! Innaccurate and/or misleading info serves only to perpetuate incorrect ideas throughout sites such as this. Read my Forum thread (all 10+ pages) and the news article above for the truth! Tony

I was very dissappointed to read your review. How can you say that Swift was not at all at fault? It is a company's duty to review its employees or "third party" skill examiner. I firmly believe that if Swift was any type of reputable company they would have found the issue with the emxaniner before TN or any other state DMV ever got involved. Apparently you do not know how the government works. It works but it takes TIME. Swift however, should have known about this examiner problem and at least notified the affected drivers before the state dmv. That is to say if they had enough forsight to even know this before the state. (A good company would know what type of work was being performed before they paid the examiner. However, this is even questionable with SWIFT. Several sites report about Swift's questionable business and training practices. For instance Jane Mundy writes about it on this website http://www.lawyersandsettlements.com/articles/00089/truck_driving.html. And with Swift, this complaint is just the tip of the iceburg. You also need to question their treatment of employees, employee checks or lack there of, and missing payments for loads completed. I have always heard that where there is smoke there is fire....Buddy wake up and see the smoke, and RUN from the fire that is Swift.

Swift IS NOT now and never was under investigation. it was the third party skill examiner and a person in the DMV office that was at fault. it was all over the trucking news last year when it went down. kinda surprised you didn't hear about it. anyone that went to THAT school and had THAT third party tester will have to retest. TN. send letters to every state DMV about it, it's up to YOUR state (KY) as to what they want to do about it. " i was given the skills test by instructors at swift driving academy in millington tenn.road test by same instructors. and went to memphis to the swift terminal to their dmv office that they have in the terminal. igot my license in the same office" all the test were given by only ONE tester and sorry but Swift DOES NOT have an onsite DMV office. no trucking company has an ONSITE DMV. do you realy think the state of TN. would spend the money to have a DMV office IN a trucking company office....? maybe next door or across the street but not "IN THE TERMINAL" the only thing you can do is to call TN. DMV to check, them call KY. DMV to check, then if KY wants you to retest you will need to setup your KY retest. then after you retest (and pass) you can go after the SCHOOL or check with the memphis DA's office to see about getting your money back for any retesting fees. "third party skill examiner failed to administer the skills test in accordance with the rules of the tennesse dept. of safety ,division of driver license issurance." if HE hadn't taken money and passed people that couldn't pass the test and if he didn't have a friend working in the DMV office this wouldn't be going on. again sorry to hear you got caught up in this mess. but do remember that it is not swift's fault and swift had nothing to do with it.

Last time I checked the CDL is ONE license. Let me double check that...yep, its just ONE license, one card with a picture on it. So my friend, my question to you is how many CDL's do you have??? You use the plural term to describe the CDL not once but twice in your posting. ("Plural" means more than one!)
