We purchased a portable ice maker which we used for 3 weeks and it quit working. We returned it for a replacement; it also went south after 2 weeks. Deciding not to replace it we returned the second unit expecting a cash refund, which is how we paid for unit 1. Apparently when we returned unit 1 the clerk rang up the exchange for unit 2 as a gift card purchase. So when we returned unit 2 for cash back, they refused, saying it was a gift card purchase and does not qualify for cash back.
It seems Target uses that ploy so that any original purchases made with cash remains with them.....if a gift card is somehow involved, they simply refuse to issue cash back. In defiance to the clerk, I asked for the manager of the Return Dept. She quickly assessed the situation and saw the reasonableness of our situation. To the great displeasure of the clerk, the manager ordered her to issue a cash refund.
Even though we received our cash back, I called the Customer Complaint 800 number from home. This person was more outrageously stupid than the clerk we dealt with. It was obvious that with every issue I directed to him, he had some sort of "cheat sheet" that he had to refer to in order to answer me. This is outrageous behavior on Target's part. The aggravation is unnecessary given the hard financial times the average consumer is going through.
SO.....beware! We are done with TARGET and goin' to (((competitor's name redacted))). God help us all.
sorry, allowing you to give a competitors name would instigate others to just file against their competition, to only come back later to suggest their company, ..plus, if you post a competitors name more than likely they will show up on search engines as a Rip-off! - - your comments on this policy are welcome.
