My Post to WARN consumers: DO NOT SHOP at TARGET!! If for any reason you might have to return (we all do) Target's company policy is not reasonable for the average consumer.

I recently attempted to return a cheap baby stroller I received as a gift as a new Grandmother. I did not have a receipt it was a gift but I did have my daughter's credit card # from which it was purchased. HA! No receipt, No return.

I would be allowed to return for another item of the same type. Now why would I need another stroller when I didn't need the first? A new grandmother needs only 1 stroller.

I spoke with the guest service manager, the store manager and every customer around me. All were kind & firm. No exceptions.

I would gladly have been happy with store credit to be used in any department. I would have been happy to have store credit even to buy baby clothes. I could only buy another stroller.

I decided to try out that return policy on another discount store. I had 3 small items to return, I had the receipts but I chose not to use them to see what the return policy would be. WalMart returned all three items totaling about $26 and gave me CASH BACK.

I realize that Target has the right to publish any return policy that they deem reasonable for their stockholders. I also have the right to shop where I chose. I will shop where it is good for me and Target has lost that label.

I buy alot from Target, thousands each year.

I like Target products, I like the store layout, I like that it is clean but I will never buy a gift from Target again. I will not buy another item from Target. Target lost a loyal customer over a $15 stoller.

RE:Target will provide a store credit to you you're allowed 2 per year

Target will provide a store credit to you you're allowed 2 per year, I work at guest services for target, and I AM SURE OF THAT. You either went over your limit for the two per year, or when scanned the merchandise wasn't found in our system, which would mean that the merchandise wasn't originally purchased there. A credit card number will do you no good as credit cards are logged and not for employees to access due to fraud and theft issues that may arise, so that would be done by target's banking dept. Yes, Wal-Mart does keep on file, but as stated above..it's wal mart.

Be an adult about it and get over it. Targets policy is created to provide a fast, fun, friendly shopping experience while keeping prices low. Yes, Wal-Mart just handed over money for "things" that you "didn't" have a receipt for, but jeez - its Wal-Mart of god sake. I've personaly seen Target merchandise on their shelves! Now, I will admit, that if you did acutally present the original credit card that it was purchased with, they should've done a merchandise lookup and should've been able to pull up the transaction. If the transaction wasn't found, then yes - your only option reverts to the one your bitchin about. Just because other stores will shell over money without questions doesn't mean we have to either. The policy will stand as is and believe it or not, people will actually continue to shop at Target despite your "report." How do I know, because those people KEEP THEIR RECIEPTS. And frankly, if I hear another guest say that they've spent "thousands in this store", I'm going to start to demand to see the reciepts! Enjoy your day! :0)

Why not have a spare stroller?

I was glad that I did when my stroller suddenly broke. Or here is what you do with the extra stroller keep it in the trunk of your car so that anytime your grandchild is visiting, you won't have to worry that you forgot the stroller (which is why my mother bought 2 strollers for herself.) no matter where we go or what we do, we know that there will always be a stroller ready if we need it.
