My daughter had birthday money and wanted to buy a GameBoy SP when it came out on 3/23. Several retailers had promotions, but I suggested she choose Target because it included a free game, Driven2.

We bought the last SP unit in the store but--surprise, there was no accompanying game. We persevered with uninformed salespeople until a manager, Paige, was called. She located a rain check sheet good through 3/29, and suggested we come back Tuesday, 3/25. When asked if no game ever came, could we just get credit, she said it was possible, but try back Tues.

I came back Tuesday, but there were no games. Staff suggested calling back on 3/29, which I did, but there were no games.

We went into the store on 4/5 to see if games ever came in--surprise, they hadn't. Entertainment manager Ayana said she thought they were discontinued. She said the ad had said "quantities limited" so there was nothing they could do. When pressed with the possibility of store credit ($19.99) towards another game, she checked with closing manager Louis, who said no.

When pressed, she could give no e-mail or direct number or name for us to contact to complain--just the main store number of the (unhelpful) Web site.

The ad said "limited quantities" not "while supplies last"; as they produced rain checks, there should have been more games available on at least one of the days we checked.

Most indicative that this was a bogus deal is the fact that we bought the last game and there was no accompanying free game anywhere in sight.

I believe Target should either send us a copy of the game or allow a $19.99 store credit/gift card.

This ad featured a child with the game and was intended to entice children to buy this game. If there was only a limited number, it should say so--such as "first five" or "only ten per store" or whatever the REAL deal is.
