Complaint Review: Tarrant County Human Services - Fort Worth Texas

Tarrant County Human Services is a FRAUDULENT, DECEPTIVE organization in that it MISLEADS the PUBLIC about being able to provide certain assistance in the case of emergencies. These folks are very TRICKY. Apparently the Federal Government has left it up to the states to "decide" how they will apportion their assistance and they have been very sneaky here in the State of Texas in deciding how to give out assistance.

I was unemployed through a job LAY OFF. My unemployment ran out. I found another job but the job was in Irving, TX. I live in WEST FORT WORTH. There is NOTHING in FORT WORTH but Hospital, Charity and Government  Jobs and they are ALL TAKEN. 

So I took the job in Irving knowing it would be difficult to make it financially (considering gas costs) when I had to drive 40 miles to get to work and 40 miles to get home. 80 miles a day. But I did it. I have NO FAMILY out here. I am ALONE. I don't know anyone out here either.

So I'm trying to get to work and my car is blowing through gas. The little money I had went all in my gas tank even when I had no food in my home. So I decided to call charities out here for assistance. They have all over the internet that they can assist with gas vouchers for emergency transportation, etc.

That is SO NOT THE CASE.

I called Tarrant County Department of Human Services and was informed that they do not help with gas vouchers at all. I ended up having to quit my job because my first paycheck was three weeks away and after driving that distance for a week and a half I couldn't make it to work.

I asked Tarrant County Human Services if they could qualify me for rental assistance as I was rushing to find another job and my pay (the little I had coming) would not cover my rent. I was told NO WAY. Because I had quit my job. I asked them what was I suppose to do and explained my situation. I would have ended up being STRANDED in Irving. 

They didn't care. They told me that even if I had not quit and gotten fired they wouldn't help. Ok. So I couldn't quit. Couldn't be fired. I told them that my unemployment had stopped and hoped they could qualify me under that. They told me NO WAY. They didn't consider Unemployment as INCOME even though the ONLY WAY YOU CAN GET IT WOULD BE BY BEING LAID OFF and that it was considered even by the US Government, the IRS, etc. as INCOME!

So they have thrown up all these roadblocks to deny a person any kind of assistance. They have made it d**n near impossible to get help through their organization. And get this.. I was also told by the rude agent I spoke to   at their location that even if I was laid off I would have to have been laid off within a few WEEKS to even get assistance. So if you had lost your job over a month or two ago and had used your SAVINGS to pay your bills until you could find something else, they would NOT ASSIST YOU.

This is UNBELIEVABLE.

The Federal Government, as INEPT AS IT IS, Should just stop letting these southern states decide how to apportion the money they get. Let the Churches decide. Because these southern organizations and states are too tricky. They have put so much thought into how to deny most people services. That you have to have NOTHING to get help. I was always told that about the South. That you have to have NOTHING, be d**n near PENNYLESS, to get any kind of assistance at all and even then they don't want to help you.

I suggest if you have to deal with any of these organizations you do what the folks who have lived longest in these places do which is get a notorized letter from someone saying you do hair or something and tell them you was just laid off. I hate to say LIE but that is the ONLY WAY one can get assistance from these types of organizations work so hard to DISQUALIFY everyone immediately. I personally wouldn't lie but if I had kids and was at risk of homelessness I MOST CERTAINLY WOULD.

Stays open just to create jobs for CHRONIES. That's how it works in Fort Worth where there are really NO JOBS. They care NOTHING about helping people. They should be SHUT DOWN!
