Change banks, at a credit union this won't happen
- Unless you are going to come here and guarantee that every one of the several thousand Credit Unions in the US don't do this you are a bit mis-leading.
Is there less likelyhood of a credit union doing this..I'd say yes for lack of any proof otherwise. However, there are also banks that will post in the transaction order. But there are also banks that post debits before credits, and some that don't. There are a couple that give you to the end of the business day of the overdraft to put the money back before they assess overdraft fees.
The point is you can not rely on some generic statement such as it won't happen at a credit union. No matter where you open an account it is up to the account holder to read and understand all of the terms of the account at that bank.

Yes re-arranging the checks HAS become common these days, and yes they ALWAYS state that "You permitted this". (It's covered in a banks small print)
