The fact that you called, requested the account closed should have been enough to mark your account as inactive ON THAT DATE. Even though you may have forgotten about a future charge, they ignored the request to close the account when they honored the charge either by paying it and/or charging the cancelled account. In other words, your request was ignored. Your approach should be that your banking relationship ceased the day you called. That is, any attempts to get money from an account that is closed is not your responsibility.

Why 35.00 service fee every 6 six days the account is negative? They do not call, they send a notice via snail mail, so how in the world can you get to the bank in time after the notice is recieved and not have another service fee applied? I paid the first charge plus the overdraft. I stopped the debit after I found out it was still in place. I paid the 2nd charge on the 6th day and another 35.00 was charged the very next day. I kept requesting to close the account and they said pay the 35.00. I said I think I paid enough for some sham service fee. Finally after some weeks when the service fee accumalated to 175.00 the gave me a graciously offered a 100.00 credit. I said fine, I went to pay the 75.00 the very next day and the teller told me it was 110.00. (the credit was offered on the 6th day cycle). After leaving the bank NOT paying, I heard Rod Serling doing some kind of monologue as I walked to the car.

I do not understand what the rip off is. You stated that you requested to close the account and during the 2 days a debit that you authorized tried to clear and a fee was assessed. You then went the to branch and are upset because they would not close the account. No bank can close the account with a negative status. It will remain open until the account is brought to a 0 balance. When the credit agency told you that you would be in the national registery and you cannot get another checking account, he was talking about check protect. With check protect, you will not be able to do the rebuttle and it will be on file for 7 years (I think). They will report it the the credit agency and it will be an open collection on your report. Even with a rebutle, it will not be removed because the bank did nothing wrong. If you knew about the fee during the 2 days and you also knew that you were going to be charged more fee's, did you contact the company that was putting the charge thru and make other arrangements? If so and you paid them, why is the amount you know so much?

You said right off that you forgot about your auto debit, which posted and overdrew you. Why is this the bank's fault?
