Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I began techskills last August (2008) and after trying to simply take a few classes, I ended up roped into this unlimited plan for one year. I came to techskills to work towards some database and security related certifications (only interested in taking 2-3 certifications). Then I got roped into an entire year for $12K. After a few months I found out that they don't even follow their own curriculum, basically just take the pre-tests over and over till you either memorize the questions or simply figure out the format. I didn't learn much in this timeframe, as I continued to work on one class after being over 50% done, techskills came back to me and said I needed to take an introductory class before the one I was in. This was upsetting, their curriculum consists of several labs, studytime and exams. Except that the online labs were never open, or the PC's were all full. They pack everyone in this little room and didn't offer any overflow study areas, that is why I choose to work from home. It was really frustrating, especially because they told me I could work from home to complete the content, then the next week would say I needed to be on-site!

After going through this for a little bit I decided, I was better off taking each course on my own (the cost of the books alone are around $75 and you can find more than enough info on the internet to study and actually learn something then take the exams). Not to mention is the course exams were not included so after spending 12,000 dollars you still need to pay for your exams at $125-195 per test. So I told them I wanted to cancel my membership to go to another college instead. This occured at the end of May (2009). Then things got worse, as I had a student loan (for 18% interest rate!) Was supposed to be reduced since I cancelled my membership early.

So after a few months I called the Teckskills loan provider to report that I still owed over $12000 for the original program! Then they began taking money out of my account (a higher amount than it was supposed to be!) Then around July I began calling techskills to ask why my account was so messed up, they never answer the phone for one thing, then I finally get through only to be passed off from person to person. Extremly frustrated I then called the Branch Manager (Todd Paulson) who tells me that the paperwork is still processing (after a few months since I left) so meanwhile I am still being charged monthly for the wrong amount, then I called my bank to stop the automatic payments. Then called TS again to find out why (now August) why my loan still shows I owe $12,900 (instead of the amount we discussed upon cancelling my membership = $6,700).

Todd again passses me off to another person who had no idea what was going on, so I had to explain the story over and over. Meanwhile because I asked their finance people to send me a payment book to mail in payments, this never happened and their financial people were calling me asking for my payments. I simply said I am not paying anything until the amount is changed and the interest is reduced. Then the threatening phone calls started from their loan department, people telling me they will repo my personal property if I don't pay and telling me they are constanly reporting on my credit! I feel that I needed to explain this so other people don't fall for this type of scam. Techskills is a bad company and their customer service is the worst I have ever seen! After 4 months, and countless attempts to contact someone who knows what the hell is going on, I decided to contact a lawyer (in progress).

Their fees are outragous, their service and so called commitment to the students is BS. Anything to get you in the door (Dan) then your on your own. Very unfortunate as in this economy we want to get our moneys worth and these guys just take advantage of you. Stear clear of the techskills scam. Your really better off taking the certification on your own.

Thank you!
