The Disney Movie Club Disney Movie Club, TDMC, DMC - Disney Movie Club Steals Your Money!! - Neenah, Wisconsin
Disney Movie Club is a complete & utter SCAM!! Run away if it is not too late for you!!
They steal your money, then they don't send the movies that you have ordered and have paid for. And they send you countless movies that you did NOT order. They will also charge your credit card for movies that you did not order -- I had to change my Credit Card Number to resolve this. Thank goodness I did not give them my Debit Card!
They will not let you speak with anyone on the phone who can actually help. When you finally get through on the 800-number, the employees refuse to give their full names -- what kind of behavior is this from a Fortune 500 company like Disney??
They change the number of movies you need to purchase to fulfill your commitment at will -- I was told I needed to buy (3) movies by August 7th, 2012 by "Kelly" (last name withheld by Kelly) in early October 2010. Then about a month later I started receiving statements saying I needed to buy (4) movies for my commitment. Who knows whether it will keep going up??
I recently sent in an order for the (3) movies that I actually committed to. I paid for them with a Postal Money Order, so that Disney Movie Club would not have any of my personal financial information to abuse, and then I received a demand for payment for these (3) movies for the exact amount that I sent -- also no movies were shipped!
Now I do not have the Christmas present I thought I had ordered for my 2-year-old nephew, and from what I read on this and other sites, I probably have very little hope of recovering either my money or the movies I ordered.
The worst part is that I cannot just write off the $64.00 I sent DMC, because they will keep haunting me with these monthly movie shipments!!
Be Warned: There is no way to break free of this curse once you are foolish enough to join!
The shocking part is that DMC is actually a part of Disney! I couldn't believe it at first. We have always LOVED Disney in my family - DisneyWorld, Disney Movies, the wholesome, friendly Disney image.
DMC is a total BLACK MARK on Disney's name and image.
I am planning to get a lawyer involved (fortunately, I have free legal service where I work), and also to see if the local newspaper is interested in exposing this scam and saving others the hassle.
Hope this report helps others, and I would be interested in any group action against the Disney Movie Club.
