Sometime in July 2010, I recieved an advertisement in the mail for "The Gold Standard" jewelry and gold buying company. They have 7 locations throughout Long Island, NY. The ad states "Not all gold buyers pay the same, we guarantee to pay the most".
I brought several pieces of jewelry into the Oceanside location. I was not offered the highest price like the ad said. Instead they offered me around 55% of what the real value of the jewelry was. For example: one piece of jewelry the Gold Standard offered me $192. A second place that I brought my jewelry too offered me $300 for that same piece. The third and final place I shopped it around too offered me $345. All the jewelry I brought into the Oceanside location offered me the lowest price not the highest price.
Their ad was right about "not all gold buyers pay the same", but they should have said "they guarantee to pay the lowest and try to rip you off".
