In your rebuttal to a complaint, Mr. Margolin, you asked for any of your clients who were dissatisfied or had a bad experience with your company to come forward.
Well, I have been trying to do that for over a year now. I retained your law firm to work with Chase for a loan modification over a year ago. Shortly after I paid my file was sent to your Florida office. At that office I was assigned about 4 different paralegals within a ten month period. Each of them never completing any follow up. I had to hunt them down in order to get some information from them.
Eventually, I was told Brett Margolin no longer has an office in Florida. My file was send back to the New York Office.
My latest hunt provided me a name and a number of a woman I spoke to only once, a month ago. Her name was Tiffany and she said she has my file and will do follow up......
follow up...follow up....follow up
A year and a half later my loan has still not been reviewed and I am facing foreclosure. I tried to tell Tiffany that I need something in writing to let the Chase lawyers know my loan is up for review, thereby postponing the procedure of foreclosure.
No one is doing anything about our loan modification. I hear a lot of bells and whistles about different programs for the people in my situation and yet still nothing.
I am a single mom supporting a teenage daughter in college and a sick mom that is staying with me.
I am frightened and scared. This foreclosure papers keep coming and I don't know where we will wind up by the year end..
PLEASE HELP.....

Dear Sue:
You seem to misunderstand. I followed your link to the BBB. The primary address for the firm is listed as Huntington. I have no office in Huntington, nor did I ever have one.
With regard to the same address issue, that is simply not true. I have already addressed this. Mr. Margolin used to operate out of the Lake Grove office, but is no longer practicing here. The office is rented. Arguing that I am the same is improper, as it would be equivalent to stating that every person that you ever worked for is the same since they employed you at some point in your life OR that you are the same person as the person who sold your home to you and the person who sold the home to them, and so on..
I hope your modification succeeds in any case, but please do not make assumptions without a basis for doing so. I am trying to make sure things are done properly with the best results for clients. Best of Luck.

Whilst Mr. Alarcon posted a nice rebuttal, Better Business Bureau claims they are one in the same company. Click this link below and you will see that the address for Alarcon in Lake Grove is the same address for Brett Margolin, PC. I also was told by one of their employees that they merged. Unfortunately, while Mr. Alarcon may not have any problems yet, joining forces with the team who used to work for Margolin, will probably cost him his career. If the link below doesn't work, go to BBB and type in Law offices of Brett Margolin and look at the addresses noted, then check out where Alaracon is located by going to their website or simply calling and asking were there office is. I am so happy that I went to rip-off report and BBB before getting involved with this firm.

Hello:
My name is Rory Alarcon and I want to respond to the above comment regarding the alleged "name change" of Brett Margolin's office.
I do not know who posted it, but I am somewhat offended that one would identify my foreclosure defense services as simple "another name" for another law office.
I have been an active volunteer with the Suffolk County Bar Association and diligent work to provide the best services to my clients. I have never met Brett Margolin, nor do I do business with him.
While some loan processors may have worked with him in the past, I actively monitor all activities of the group to ensure that all clients receive our best efforts to obtain them a loan modification. I have been working to assist some Margolin clients, but only on a per diem basis to assist in the ongoing modification negotiations they continue to face.
Despite losing potential clients, I never promise or guarantee any results regarding a foreclosure and/or modification. There are a number of factors that go into any legal based action, regardless of the practice area (foreclosure, divorce, or any field). Some modifications are denied based on income, some on changes on financial circumstances that change, and others for different reasons. Regardless, I would not be able to rest my head at night if my group did not make their best efforts.
To the person posting, though I do not know Mr.Margolin, I apologize that some people felt that they did not get the services they expected to. However, please do not simply assume that my office is "the same" business, especially without speaking to me first. It is very far from the truth.
I have worked very hard to become a lawyer and establish a good reputation, and I do not want it ruined for something I never did or had a part of. Thank you.

The Law Offices of Brett Margolin now goes by another name: The Alarcon Law Group. This happened very suddenly and leads one to believe that perhaps they changed their name to avoid the negative implications of the former name, since the name Brett Margolin brings up all sorts of negative things online, from an F rating by the BBB to these reports on ripoffreport.com. Make no mistake, though--it is the same firm operated by the same people. Be careful before you sign on to The Alarcon Law Group.

I had the same experience with this Law Firm...I thought they sounded so helpful at first, and knowing that I am very vulnerable right now, they tried to make me believe they were the answer to my prayers. Until the end of the conversation when he (a case manager of the lawyer) basically told me that they would make it work out when they worked the numbers and that I would definitely qualify, and then told me about the $1900 legal retainer. Quite honestly I had no idea I was talking to a law firm because I got the phone number from www.nationalmortgagebailout.com and it sounded like it had to do with the Making Homes Affordable Program so I called to inquire. I asked him , "if I am behind on my mortgage, how could I possibly pay him that kind of money...if I had the money, I would pay my mortgage instead". He made it sound like it would be worth it in the long run and even sent me an email so I could "know who I was dealing with". I became skeptical so I searched his name and found this comment from you.
So, if I do not qualify for the Making Homes Affordable Program and Bank of America is not willing to help us modify our loan, what options do I have to stay in my home and avoid foreclosure. I qualify for all the criteria except they say our salaries are too high, even though my expenses/debt are through the roof. We already have our credit cards in a debt settlement company. We also have rental property that is for sale besides our home we live in, which due to the economy, no one can get a loan for.
What did you end up doing in the end for modification?? We need help and have been trying for 8 months now to try to recover but once you get behind, it is hard to get caught up. Any other programs you have heard of??
Thanks for any information you might be able to provide me with!
