I recently made some valid complaints about the Jaeger Brothers mud flaps on The Mustang Source. The complaints were met with tons of drama, from people I believed worked - or were the Jaeger Brothers - because I can't imagine normal citizens/or readers of the site would go to the length they did to insult me for stating an opinion about their mud flaps.

Well, unbeknownst to me, after months of being up, the comments I made about how I didn't like the flaps were all taken down, with the "nice" ones left up. Also, my account was deleted without warning! I didn't use it often because The Mustang Source allowed their users to beat me up for stating an opinion, but when I replied, "they" (Jaeger Brothers, Moderators) PM'ed me, threatened me, docked, and flagged me - even though time and time again, I said "this is my opinion, leave me alone, drop it" - they were the ones who kept it going with their insults, not me.

This is supposed to be a site not only for car/mustang people, but for reviews. How can there be fair reviews if THe Mustang Source will take them down when advertisors go whining? How am I, or others supposed to know about the product without FAIR reviews from both sides of the aisle?

Not only does this promote bad-business on the part of the Jaeger Brothers, but The Mustang Source took away my first ammendment rights - to not only NOT LIKE a product, but to complain about it.

So, if you plan to post on the Mustang Source - make sure that you don't post anything negative about the Jaeger Brothers, or any other advertisors because they'll delete them and delete your account without warning. With TOTAL DISREGARD for First Ammendment Rights! The last time I checked, first ammedment rights can't be compomised because a company doesn't like a negative product review. You don't see Ford whining everytime someone says something negative.

Also, I've noticed that on many threads where people made harmless, valid complaints about the Jaeger Brothers Mudflaps/ Splash Guards, many "people" go in for an attack! Hmm... For people who deal with muscle cars, you'd think they weren't such whiny little babies when someone doesn't like their product??!!

So, in review - The Mustang Source caters to the whims of Advertisors. Obviously the content didn't violate Terms of Use b/c the comments were up for months!

I wanted to update this post. I am satisfied with the customer service I received after I contacted the company. They worked hard to be super professional with me, and replaced the product for free! And with free shipping. I definitely will recommend this company and product to anyone because of the excellent service I received and how they worked with me to clear up the problem.

I have also been victimized in the same way. I, too, made a complaint on the same site. My complaint was simple: a Jaeger Bros JFlap cracked, I sent it back as I was instructed, waited 4 weeks and received nothing - no refund or splash guard. I emailed Jaeger Brothers and was told there was no account of my name. I found a thread on the site with common complaints, and I posted mine - cracked guard, no refund or replacement. That was it.

Within hours, I was told I was lying b/c I did not have pics of the cracked splash guard - I didn't know I was supposed to take any. I was also called nasty names, followed around to various threads on the site, and was PM'd with threats. Including: "You're getting in too deep!" Excuse me? With what? With making a valid complaint? They also told me it was impossible to crack - but I know it did and was not shipped that way.

I, too, realized that these other "users" were most likely Jason Jaeger. I not only found other posts made by these "users" where all they did was rave about and link to Jaeger Brothers Automotive, but I found the same handles on other Mustang sites - with the same comments and links. Jason actually wrote to me on the thread and stated, in public, I was lying and had no account with them - I was astonished at this poor customer service (he definitely lost a good customer with lots of friends). Again, what do I have to gain by lying about a cracked mud flap?

I was astonished at the site's lack of action with taking care of these problems. One person who PM'd me with nastiness was a moderator - I made a post about this particular mod harassing me, and he flagged me and gave me a warning. Why? I really can't tell you - when all I did was make a valid complaint about my customer service.

I would understand if my account, name got lost, etc., but don't ever call me a liar for something so trivial! And you're right, for people who deal with muscle cars, they sure get whiny.

Well, now you have another person backing you up. And to  the "guy" who wrote a comment about the 1st Ammendment - you should be ashamed - just wait until someone takes away yours. And this is my 2nd post - I didn't think the first went through, so if it did - I apologize.

Who cares about first ammendment rights - obviously that is not what the original author was primarily speaking of. And it's my guess this is a response/rebuttal from the Jaeger Brothers - who else would just seek this post out about the JFlaps and write something like that? I can see what you are talking about.

I, too, was victimized on a site for writing negative reviews about Jaeger Brothers. I was told I was lying, didn't know what I was talking about, etc. My original comment was harmless and stated my opinion. Well, I got a private message from "someone" who told me I was "getting in too deep. . . " excuse me?

So, what exactly was I "getting in too deep," about? I still don't know. I wrote that I had received some JFlaps, one broke, I sent it back, and never received a replacement. I know it broke - I saw the crack at the bottom - it sure as heck wasn't shipped this way! After weeks of waiting for a replacement I wrote my comments on a particular site. I was told I was lying because I could not provide pictures of the cracked Jaeger Brothers Automotive JFlap splash guard - I was threatened and many "users" wrote back nasty comments about me - when all I did was write a valid complaint. I, too, am convinced these users are Jason Jaeger. I did some research on the various "users" that wrote me back. Many wrote only on the threads about mudflaps (and also on other mustang sites with the same handles) - and gave kudos and links to Jaeger Brothers Automotive. I'm sorry, but this is quite obvious. Although the site only allowes one IP at a time to have an account - one who has many computers can easily forge accounts.

So, to the original author - I believe your assumptions were correct, and now you have someone else to back you up. I have recently gone to the mustang source and noticed a new thread about the JFlap - someone not liking it - and guess what? Same guy follows this person from thread to thread harassing him. You're right - for people who deal with muscle cars, these guys sure are whiny. Oh yeah, I was also threatened to be sued!! For what? Who knows.  . .

1st Amendment Rights

Sorry but 1st Amendment Rights do not apply to a privately run web site.  The owner can decide what's posted and what isn't with no recourse.

you, on the other hand can start your own site and put your own rules in place.

Here is First Amendment information from wikipedia: Notice that it only applies to government agencies.

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution is the part of the Bill of Rights that expressly prohibits the Congress from making laws "respecting an establishment of religion", prohibiting the free exercise of religion, infringing the freedom of speech, infringing the freedom of the press, limiting the right to peaceably assemble, or limiting the right to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

Although the First Amendment only explicitly applies to the Congress, the Supreme Court has interpreted it as applying to the executive and judicial branches. Additionally, in the 20th century, the Supreme Court held that the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment applies the limitations of the First Amendment to each state, including any local government within a state.

Hacker or not

I think forums and sites should listen to valid complaints made by consumers and shouldn't allow their users to be so openly attacked or making a simple statement. I'm glad to know it was a hacker and not some type of cover-up. So, I remove resposibility from mustang source for the removal of the posts, but still think people shouldn't talk to others in the way I was recently spoken to - then I was the one who was flagged, while I was just telling people to leave me alone.
