The Gourmet Chalet Wedding Reception Refund Northampton Pennsylvania
Last year we went to The Gourmet Chalet for brunch and to inquire about having our wedding ceremony and reception there in April 2005. We decided to go with them and we were told that they would need a $1,000 deposit to hold the place for us. On New Year's Eve we gave them a check, 2 weeks later they deposited the check and 2 weeks after that they shut the doors.
I did not find this out until around Easter when I was trying to make reservations for Easter Dinner. They where shut down for 2.5 months and never notified anyone. Wedding were cancelled and people had to find another place. Finally I got through to what I was told was new management, they reopened and we tastied the food and it was aweful. I requested they return my deposit of $1,000 and they claim that the original owner never transferred the funds to them, but they will still honor our deposit. I informed them that I do not wish to have my wedding there anymore, they breached the contract twice. I have contacted the previous owner and he gave me the run around about my money. I have contacted the Attorney General's Office in Lehigh County and they are working on a case.
Anyone looking at this place for your wedding, please be careful these people are very shady and rude. The previous and new management are friends, SCAM ARTISTS. Needless to say I have booked my reception with a well-known wedding facility. I do not want to take the chance of this place closing next year and then I have no place for my wedding.
I know of another couple also fighting with them to get their money back, if there is anyone else out there please contact the Attorney General's Office in Lehigh County and reply on this website. Thanks
