Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I was at the oaks in 2005 and they were doing construction in the middle of a very busy season, they left their work-out equipment all over the main hall way. I witnessed an elderly handicapped woman trip and fall try while walking through the hall. Her cane had gotten stuck on the equipment that way illegally left out in the middle of the hotel. The hotel staff did nothing to help her while she was laying their crying in obvious pain. Come to find out the hotel had NO handicapped rooms to have their guest stay in after they had previously told her their was. The woman was not able to take a shower the entire stay. Not to mention she had gotten locked in her room and fell again while trying to pull the busted door open, which in turn caused her to have to pay for and receive 2 hand surgery's over the past 3 years. Which all could have been avoided if their facility way in compliance of the law.

This is outrageous that a hotel/spa could operate this way. The owner and staff have been fully aware of this elderly woman's pain and suffering over the past few years that was caused by their hotel and have done NOTHING to help. Shila Cluff the owner won't even return a phone call. Ladies lets all get together... share your stories... maybe their is a way we can help this family!!!!!! Looking for as many people that can remember this incident or one like it.

The person who wrote this complaint is the daughter of the woman who tripped and fell in Sept 2005 they were both guests at The Oaks. The area where she fell was the weight room and there was no construction going on in that area. The fitness instructor Nancy immediately came to her aid. In the report that was written the guest stated she was rushing to get to the 4pm yoga class. The daughter is writting this beacuse she is unhappy that she let the gift certificate that was given to her along with a letter of apology expire. Her Mother who has not logged any complaint had the charges for the night she fell removed from her bill since she could not participate in the full program this was done before she checked out on 9/30/05. A follow up letter was sent with a gift certificate to come back complimentary this had a 1 year expiration date. The daughter who wrote this said she could not use it before it expired and The Oaks graciously extended it for another 2 years which gave it an expiration date of Dec 22, 2008. She made a reservation to use it before this date and then cancelled it. She then tried to make a reservation for 2009 and was told her gift certificate had expired upon hearing this she has called multiple times and been very rude to staff yelling, crying and threatening. The General Maganger responded to her with 3 or 4 letters explaining that we generously extended it and she choose to let it expire and we can not honor it any longer. She has now made these false accusations and does not seem willing to accept no. The Oaks tried to be gracious in its extension, discounts and letters but it is apperant she is a bit irrational. This is a sad situation that really did not need to esculate to this level if guidelines were just followed and she did not wait over 3 years to redeem the gift certificate.
