I would first like to warn consumers, before I get into details, this used to be a part of the "Yankee Clipper Inn" and believe it or not, after a short investigation, learned it used to have the same owner who actually sold off the Yankee Clipper Inn division and now only just operates the above captioned hotel/inn name !Now for the complaint.

My mother and father were having their 40th Anniversary and have stayed at the Yankee Clipper Inn every year for the past 40 years ! On the night of their 40th stay, they learned there was no longer a pool available to swim in and that it was a part of the Yankee Clipper, which they made the reservation for but was told on arrival, not via phone, at the time of reservation, they were two seperate entities. They asked if they could use the pool since its at the same address, just a different building and were addressed very rudely and told they could not and if they didnt want to stay there, they didnt have to !!This is the best part ! I called to try and wish my Mother and Father a happy anniversary that night and when I called the Yankee Clipper, where they said they were staying, I was told there wasnt anyone there by their name ! I explained there had to be a mistake and the educated person who answered the phone said they could be at the Quartdeck Inn and gave me the number. I then called the Quarterdeck Inn and asked if my parents were staying there and was told I could not have that information and would not confirm or deny my folks were even there. I then asked if I could be connected to their room and I was their son just trying to wish them a happy anniversary and was very rudely told that could not be done. I was at a loss for words and the person who took the call ( who I later identified as the old owner of the YANKEE CLIPPER)was extremly rude and non sympathetic about the situation. The phone call ended and about an hour and a half later I got a call from my parents saying the owner of the hotel (who had my caller id) said I called and was rude to him!!! A 100% lie ! I could not even believe this person had the audacity to accuse me of being rude when he was extremely un-professional and not helpful in anyway, and....he never even said to me, "if your parents are here, I will get them the message to call you". The rooms dont even have phones in them ! You can call and verify this for yourself ! Here is the craziest part of this excuse for a hotel/inn owner.....HE TOLD MY PARENTS WHO HAVE BEEN STAYING AT THE INN FOR 40 YEARS ! THEY WERE NO LONGER WELCOME AT THE HOTEL ! NO POOL ANYMORE OR PHONES IN THE ROOMS AND LAUGHABLE REDICULOUS MANAGEMENT BY THE ACTUAL OWNER. He also bad mouthed The Yankee Clipper Inn after selling that division off ! Good luck if you want to stay here. Bring a blow up pool and make sure you have a cell phone and a lot of patience for the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my 48 years alive on this planet !  Everything I have stated above is verifiable. My parents were broken hearted and checked out the next day ! DONT STAY AT THE QUARTERDECK INN BY THE SEA ! IT IS NOT THE SAME AS THE YANKEE CLIPPER INN. NOT EVEN CLOSE !

It amazes me first and foremost that the owner of the company I complained about has the nerve to continue to blame me for his un-professionalism in handling a business call and he points out in his counter claim that I never identified myself??? The facts are I certainly not only identified myself but did so after he asked me who I was after I asked to be connected to my parents room. If you read his counter claim closely, it only backs up my claims, like no phones in the rooms (and by the way...not everyone carries a cell phone and should be expected to carry a cell phone when a room for one night is almost $300.00 a night? Really?) Also, he states, like I did, there are no pools unless you go to another place to BORROW THE USE OF their pool.......to further make my point, how does this individual make a claim of his hospitality of getting dinner and all his grace and then tell my parents, even if I pretend to take the blame for his ignorance, they are no longer welcome at the inn due to someone else's complaint with how the situation was handled? If you notice in his counterclaim, he never mentions that one fact ! He never denies telling my folks they were no longer welcome after being loyal patrons of the YANKEE CLIPPER INN, NOT THE QUARTERDECK INN ! My parents called the number they have had for over 40 years which belonged to the Yankee Clipper Inn and they thought thats who they made the reservation with so this is the reason for the confusion which the owner of the Quarter Deck Inn was knowledgable about but did not want to help with at the time of the call.

Lastly, does anyone reading this complaint think that his claims I made threats to him or became violent on the phone in consistant with a simple phone call to wish my folks a happy anniversary??? This is the former owner of the Yankee Clipper Inn which by the way IS right next to and use to be ONE ENTITY with the Quarterdeck Inn as being just another unit on the property until the owner, most likely due to poor management had to SELL OFF the Yankee Clipper Inn to another party (who apparently could run the place better than he could) and if you would like to verify this, PLEASE JUST CALL THE YANKEE CLIPPER INN AND ASK ! Thats how simple it really is ! I have no reason to make all this up and if the phone call was handled in a professional and courteaus manner and an offer to help out  and even making an offer to give my parents my phone number if they were in fact staying there, which was never told to me at the end of the call, the complaint of un-professionalism would not have been filed. Im sure he goes out and buys all of his guest staying in for the night, especially if there are more than one guest, a full dinner and hand delivers it to the room........that make sense too?  This is a poor attempt to "flip the actual events" to make it look it was my fault when all he had to do was try and be helpful instead of being instigative and demeaning.  I identified not only myself but also the names of both of my parents at the time of the call so where does the rest of what his counter claim make sense if you read between the lines. I also made contact with the Chamber of Commerce and the BBB and there are OTHER COMPLAINTS that are made very similar to poor treatment by the owner of this rogue establishment.

Lastly, like I said in my original complaint, please contact The Yankee Clipper Inn if you would like to verify my above statements as far as old ownership and the C of C and BBB to check current or past complaints. I have no reason to take the time to make all this up. I have better things to do and I am only trying to educate the public about how this poorly run establishment works !

Rebuttal to a complaint filed regarding The Quarterdeck Inn

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

Wed, October 17, 2012

I would like to offer the following rebuttal to a complaint made against The Quarterdeck Inn. The complainant stated that his parents had made a reservation at The Yankee Clipper Inn for their 4oth anniversary. He further states, that The Quarterdeck Inn is located at the same address as The Yankee Clipper Inn. The complainant is misinformed. The Quarterdeck Inn has been separate Inn for the last 3 years. The Quarterdeck Inn has its own address, website and phone number. The complainants parents had called The Quarterdeck Inn and made a reservation to stay there. Because The Quarterdeck Inn is not part of the Yankee Clipper Inn, we have no authority to allow our guests to use their pool. If you refer to our website, our guests are allowed to use an indoor pool at The Rockport Inn and Suites and a seasonal outdoor pool at The Emerson Inn. To my knowledge, the pool was never an issue with the complainants parents. We are one of a few Inns in Rockport, where guests can use 2 different pools. If the complainants parents wanted to use a pool, they would have been referred to the Emerson Inn or the Rockport Inn and Suites.

The complainant also stated that we badmouth The Yankee Clipper Inn after the separation. We have never said anything negative about The Yankee Clipper Inn. We have an excellent working relationship with them. If we have a full house, new guests are referred to The Yankee Clipper Inn and when the Yankee Clipper Inn is full they reciprocate with us.
I had an excellent rapport with the complainants parents. They were treated royally at our Inn. One night when his parents didnt want to go out, I went out and picked up dinner for them. This was the kind of service that we had provided for them.
I received a phone call on a night the complainants parents were staying with us. The caller never identified himself. He asked if a certain party was staying at the Inn. The party happens to be the complainants parents. I told him that I couldnt reveal the name of the guests who were staying at the Inn, due to confidentiality laws. I informed the caller that we do not have separate phones in the rooms, because we are a small Inn and everyone carries a cell phone. Everyone that stays at our Inn is given my cell phone number, in the event of an emergency. I offered to take the callers name and phone number and give it to the guests if they were staying with us. I also recommended that he call the guest on their cell phone. The caller immediately became hostile and started swearing and threatening me. I abruptly ended the call and informed the guests he was looking for, about the incident. The husband answered the door and told me he knew who the caller was. The wife called me the next day and apologized to me. She told me the caller was her son and that he has a hostility problem. The complainants parents were embarrassed and visibly upset.

In conclusion I find it odd that the complainant didnt know where his parents were staying for their 40th anniversary and that he didnt have their cell number to call them. Its to bad the complainants hostile behavior embarrassed his parents and ruin their 40th anniversary.

If anybody wants to question my professional behavior please refer to all the reviews that have been written about the Inn. We conduct ourselves in a high professional manner and go out of our way to make sure our guests have a comfortable stay. This has been our policyand will continue to be.
