Ladies and gents, experienced audio types would not buy anything without hearing it first. Check Wikipedia's extensive write-up on White Van Speakers. The number of brands listed will amaze you. Trouble is, many so-called "White Van" speakers are now being marketed on the internet, with glossy ads which can seduce the unwary. Many established and well-known brands may seem expensive by comparison, but most(though not all) use quality components and engineering that, at least in part, justify their cost. Rarely(read: almost never) do cheap speakers come along that rival in performance much more expensive systems. The days of cheap, wonder speakers like the Large Advent are long gone. You get what you pay for.

I remember seeing an expose' on this exact scenario more than 10 years ago. I guess people will never learn to use logic to make decisions. I am not aware of any company that gives away speakers to employees if they are given too many. I have personally disassembled one of these "Theater Research" floor speaker units that was purchased by an aquaintance. The actual speakers are worth about $10 a piece. Common sense is uncommon.

This guy is doing real good by my count. He at least has already ripped off TWO people, YOU and the warehouse owner. If he was lagitimate(sp) why wouldn't he return them to his boss, so he could re-sell them to another customer. Be thankful that it wasn't a sting operation by the police to get people to buy stolen stuff. Sorry you got ripped off. But lesson learned. DON'T BUY ANYTHING OFF THE BACK OF A TRUCK.
